DANIEL MARK SUL
July 1, 1960 May 26, 2020
Dan is survived by his wife Donna; fur babies, Auzzi and Odie; brother Ed (Audrey) Sul; and their children, Nicole (Tony) and Christopher; sister-in-law Jackie Sul; brother Clifford (Marlene) Sul; and in-laws, Roger Beernaerts (Pam) and Jerry (Sari) Paulette; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Fabiola Sul (LaBelle); brother David Sul; grandparents; many uncles; aunts; cousins and in-laws. Dan and Donna raised several fur babies over the years and some will be waiting for him with purrs and cat kisses when he arrives.
Dan met and married the love of his life Donna on June 1, 1991. Together they experienced many different ski hills and golf courses and travelled to many locales to enjoy them. Their favourite destination was Maui, where they loved the Aloha and Hang Loose spirit.
He had that deep ingrained work ethic and worked at Salisbury House when he was just 14 years old. He worked for over 40 years for Kelly Western Services, where he exemplified customer service. Dan said many times that owners, Gordon and Helen Peters and Lynn and Howard, made them all better people. They gave him unending guidance, nurturing and love throughout his good health and bad. They were his special family by choice. Dan was a dedicated leader proudly developing and encouraging the staff to give their best every day. He truly loved the people he worked with, and for, and it showed. He set an example that was hard to match.
Dan loved playing and watching sports, having participated in skiing, baseball, fishing, curling and especially golf. He was so proud of becoming an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Deer Lodge Curling Club for his fundraising and team spirit efforts as President of the club.
Dan and Donna spent decades of wonderful summers at Spruce Sands Trailer Resort in Arnes, Manitoba. Dan's idea of a perfect summer day was to get up early, head to a golf course with Donna, sandwich and beer for lunch, home for a snooze, BBQ dinner and a bonfire with friends. Fishing with his buddies at Malachi Lake could be easily substituted for the golf followed by a night of tall fish tales in the cabin with the guys. Those were a few of his favourite things.
In recent years, Dan dived deeply into woodworking, which he absolutely loved. In between chemo treatments, he took on a huge project, to make beautiful "raw edge" tables and shelves for those closest to him. He managed to finish them all so he could present them personally. Those pieces will be cherished as a lasting legacy to him. If he had not been given the down time that cancer forced on him, then he would have missed creating those labours of love.
Dan was a traditionalist of sorts, always wanting to celebrate special holidays and occasions with those he loved. All those inherited and new traditions in the food, china and decorations had to be on full display at these times.
Dan had such a soft heart and never hesitated to help anyone who needed it. He was a natural leader, so it never took him long to string together some help for whatever project was going on. He was the life of the party and a joy to be around.
Children and young people always loved to be around Uncle Dan because he was so much fun and they knew he would impart some kind of life lesson before the end of the visit.
Many times, Dan would say how blessed he was for all the life long dear true friends he made on his life journey. Their caring and supportive visits and calls as he battled cancer were so appreciated. He especially wanted to express special thanks and acknowledgement to Gordon and Helen, Lynn and Howard, Brent and Val Severyn, Hal and Lois, Darwin, Ed and Audrey, Jackie, Glenda, Grace Hospital and CCMB Oncology Nurses and Doctors and Naturopathic Dr. Jason Bachewich.
As per Dan's wishes, cremation has taken place and due to current circumstances, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Darcy's Arc pet rescue (darcysarc.ca).

Although I only knew Dan for a short period of time it was evident how big of a heart he had and how he truly loved his dear wife Donna. He was always willing to lend a hand and really was the life of the party. It was such a joy listening to his countless stories of this and that and of course the odd little ribbing between friends. He will truly be missed. God speed my friend. - Posted by: Wendy (Trailer neighbor) on: May 30, 2020
