LUIGI DOLORATO VENDITTI

It is with great sadness that our family announces the death of Luigi Dolorato Venditti, who died on June 3, 2020.
He was not only a father, but a brother, uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in his death by both parents, Erminio and Luisa; sisters, Dolorata and Clotilda; sister-in-law Lillian; and in-laws, Bill and Pauline. He was also predeceased by his wife of 24 years, Janet (nee Daneleyko).
He is survived by his sisters, Antoinette (Dominic) of Thunder Bay and Giovanna Pizzi of Scottsdale, Arizona. His is also survived by his brother Joe (Nella) of Toronto. He will be deeply missed by the many beloved children, and their children, of all his brothers and sisters. He leaves to mourn his son Marcello (Becky); daughter Lisa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be profoundly missed by the true love of his life, granddaughter Janet. He will also be greatly mourned by his sister-in- law and brother-in-law Linda and Victor Nikolic of Calgary, AB, as well as their children, Elizabeth (Jake), Billy, Nicky and Jonathan.
Luigi was born in the small village of Santa Maria del Molise, Provincia Isernia, Italy. He immigrated to Canada as a young man, and resided in his earlier days in Ignace, Ontario. He later moved to Winnipeg, and trained as a welder - and married his love Jane, in 1967. He soon had two children, whom he set about to ensure they would learn the virtues of hard work, and ensured they would receive a solid, higher education. Proudly Italian - he enjoyed his wine, and was interested in Italian news, culture, politics, and music until his health failed. He struggled with multiple health challenges - but held a quiet composure until the end.
The family would like to thank countless caregivers at the end of his life, as he was treated with compassion and kindness, despite his challenging health issues, by the caring staff of West Park Manor.
A private Funeral Mass was celebrated with Fr. Sam Argenziano of Holy Rosary Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to our family's favourite charity - St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

  • My deepest and heartfelt condolences go out to Marcello and his family and Lisa. Your father was a very kind and gentle person who always greeted me with a smile and kind words. He always had a funny joke to tell me. Lisa and I go way back to high school and have become very close and I am sorry I am not there to share your grief. I do send my thoughts and prayers to the entire family and my heart does ache with all of you. May God shower His blessings on you all and give you strength to bear his loss. My condolences from my husband Omar and our daughters Zahra and Laila. - Posted by: Asma Bukhari (Best friend to Lisa) on: Jun 09, 2020

  • My sincere condolences to the family but especially to Luigi's children, Marcello and Lisa. I worked for Luigi in mid 1980s and thanks to him I learned a trade as a plasterer. He wasn't just a boss but a very hard worker himself. The trade I learned from him put food on my table for many years and kept me physically fit and healthy. I will always be thankful for that. I was lucky to have had good bosses in my life and Luigi was a good one. Sorry to see him gone. RIP, Luigi. Waldemar Antos - Posted by: Waldemar Antos (Former employee) on: Jun 07, 2020

  • Marcello, Very sad news. So sorry for your loss. Keep well. Harry and Kathy Strub - Posted by: HARRY STRUB (friend) on: Jun 06, 2020

  • We are both saddened to learn of Luigi's passing. Over 30 years ago he stuccoed our house ("Put my signature on it" as Luigi used to say) and it still looks great today. His work has stood the test of time as will our memory of Luigi. He had a great sense of humor and we always enjoyed our conversations with him. To Mark an Lisa- Earth has no sorrow that heaven can not heal. Best regards......Ron and Rose - Posted by: Ron and Rose GIRA (Old friends) on: Jun 06, 2020

  • As a child, I remember visiting him a many times. They are happy memories....with laughter, and of course lots of food. Then, later on, he honoured me, with his presence at my wedding, I was over joyed to see him again, and Aunt Janet. He was a caring, and loving man...and will live in my memories forever. To all the family, my sincerest, and heartfelt sympathies. He will be missed. Rest in peace Uncle Louie❤❤❤❤ - Posted by: Lombardi, Maria (Great Uncle) on: Jun 06, 2020
