Peacefully on June 5, 2020, Edwin passed away at the age of 93.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Pamela; daughters, Sharon (Charles) and Gayle (O'Dell); stepsons, Jim (Charlene), Darryl (Diana), Richard and Warren; grandchildren, Chip, Steven, Skylar, Melissa, Caitlin (Kenneth), Michael, Jason, Faith and Kayla-Rose; and great-grandchildren, Isaac, Damien, Kayla and Rhyder.
He was predeceased by his grandson Dustin; brothers, Duane, Arthur and Gordon; and sister Virginia.
Edwin was born and raised in Somers, Connecticut. He served as a Medic with the U.S Navy in the Second World War and the Korean War. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Outdoors was where he loved to be; hiking, skiing, cycling, swimming, camping and gardening. He was a highly intelligent man and an avid reader, he was rarely in front of the T.V. Ed was also a Chemical Engineer, employed in the paint industry. He eventually opened his own business, Cal Resin. After selling his business, he was hired and brought to Winnipeg by Guertin Brothers. After retiring he continued to work as a consultant until his 80th year.
The family would like to thank Ursula Henschke, for the kind, gentle and loving care she provided for Ed as his companion. Also to Maples Care Home for their loving care, humour and understanding during his two month stay and to Holy Family Care Home where Ed was blessed to spend his last days. He could not have wished for better care, compassion, love, understanding and respect that was given to him and his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.

Ed was a kind and gentle soul, he loved people and people loved him. He was generous to a fault and would never turn anyone in need away. We knew him from our residence in the Belair - Traverse Bay area. Ed was extremely intelligent and didn't suffer fools gladly, we loved him anyway. The world is a much sadder place without Ed and he will surely be missed. our condolences to Pam and his family, close and extended, and friends. - Posted by: Doug and Lorraine Neal (Friends) on: Oct 21, 2020
