ELIZABETH (BETTY) PENNER
September 2, 1939 - July 9, 2020

Elizabeth "Betty" Penner (nee Hiebert), loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2020, at the St. Boniface Hospital. One might say that she died of a broken heart; her heart was physically damaged by heart disease but shattered when the love of her life of 59 years, Peter, passed away in October 2019.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Rose (James) Sawatzky, Ken (Bonita) Penner and Wendy (David) Malko. She loved, and was loved by, her grandchildren, Russell, Carly (Mike), Heather, Jordan (Ataya), Everett and Campbell who will miss her greatly.
Betty was born in Winkler, Manitoba to Peter and Margaret Hiebert (nee Voth) on September 2, 1939. She was the second youngest of eight children. She leaves to mourn a large, extended family including siblings, Mary, Margaret (George), Dorothy (Frank), and many special nieces and nephews who meant so much to her. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Tina (Peter), Anne (John), Helen (John), Peter (Judy), and brother-in-law Abe. Also mourning her loss are many of Peter's extended family whom she loved dearly.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. in the Reinfeld Cemetery, Reinfeld, Manitoba. We are asking those who plan to attend to RSVP to bpenner39@hotmail.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or St. Boniface Hospital.
The family would like to thank all of the medical professionals who cared for Mom throughout the years, in particular, Dr. James Edye-Rowntree and Dr. Brian Penner for their exemplary care of Mom.
