JOHANN JAKOB HINRICHS
August 30, 1928 - July 10, 2020

We are sad to announce the death of our father, opa and great-opa, Johann Jakob Hinrichs at the Pinawa Hospital on Friday, July 10, 2020. Johann was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Elke (Dircks) on May 30 of this year. He was also predeceased by his parents and sisters.
Johann leaves behind his four children, Albert (Lynda), Inge-Marie (Werner), Dirk and Harm, six grandchildren, Britta (Holger) and Jan Westermann, Stephanie (Braden), Christian (Leah), Michael and Mark Hinrichs, and two great-grandsons, Ian and Carson Hinrichs, that gave him much joy.
Johann was born in Osterhever, Germany on the family farm where he was raised alongside his sisters, Annemarie and Lisa. Johann and Elke were married December 7, 1951. In 1968 they sold the family farm and immigrated to Canada where they settled on a dairy farm in Whitemouth, MB. They lived there for the next 52 years building the farm with the help of their sons. Johann's life was all about working and leaving a legacy for his sons and grandsons. He could be seen in the tractor into his 80s feeding the heifers. The farm and the family were his life, he needed nothing else.
As per Johann's wishes, cremation has taken place and a service will be held once international travel restrictions have been lifted.
