It is with tremendous sadness, but a sense of profound relief, that we announce Mark's battle with Lewy Body Dementia has ended.
Mark leaves his wife Nancy, his first wife and mother of his children, Dianne; his eldest son, Kirk (Karen); grandchildren, Kayla, Kylie and Matthew; youngest son, Christopher (Jessica) and his stepchildren, Kevin Perris and Meaghan Sharma (Raj), and grandchildren, Kainoa and Callie.
Mark was a gentle, loving and caring man who left this world far too soon.
At his request, there will be no formal service to observe his passing.
Mark's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by visiting his tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com. A photo-biography, as well as memories and stories published by those who knew him, are available there.

John, I was trying to confirm if your dad Ross was still alive. I wanted to wish your dad a happy birthday. We are in Manitoba this winter. In my search to connect with your dad I found Mark's obituary. The tears have not yet ceased. Mark and you were like brothers. We shared every season with joint family gatherings for many years. Mark came back home the winter I lived with your family during my first year at the University of Manitoba while I was in pre-veterinary medicine. It was my opportunity to reaffirm my care for Mark, not as a youth but as a grown man. Mark didn’t ever disappoint. Mark's genuine smile and keen care to make you know your presence was real to him had deepened. And his easy gentle laughter and inner sparkle emanated. I am grateful be among those of us lucky to have been in Mark's life. I am saddened that we can never meet again on this earth. Goodbye Mark. Thanks for being your true self. I am very sorry to hear of Mark's passing in August. He was the yearbook editor at Silver Heights when we graduated in 1965-66 and he also sang in the operetta. He was a bright, witty, and capable fellow to accomplish all that he did that year. I just dug out my old yearbook and saw his picture before I learned of his passing. It's hard to believe 54 years have slipped away since then and now Silver Heights is no more. I met his brother John once. My sincere condolences to Mark's family. - Posted by: Frederick Ross (classmate) on: Dec 02, 2020

Met Mark and his older brother John at Silver Heights High School where we all preformed in the Mikado and other operettas directed by Barry Anderson. The Singleton family moved from Georgeon Towers to McMasters when our family moved from Silver Heights to Assiniboine Crescent. I was invited to many interesting meals harvested by Marks father and prepared by his mother. We were all in university together and met Dianne there. All on all the Singleton's were a memorable part of my life and remain so in my memory. Smooth sailing until we meet again. - Posted by: Candy Copeland Allen (Friend of the famiky) on: Nov 16, 2020

My experience with Mark was that he taught meaningful life lessons not only to his students but to colleagues around him including me. Phil Mark’s dedication, sensitivity and knowledge made him an amazing teacher with his students in Food Services at the University of Manitoba during the St. Vital Summer School Work Experience Program.
