SHAWN S. JACOBUCCI
1967 - 2020
Shawn passed away unexpectedly at his beloved second home in Inwood, with a close friend nearby. A lover of nature, music and archery, Shawn found his greatest joy being out in the wilderness with his sons and friends. He spent many formative years hunting and exploring the outdoor terrain with his father "Red".
In his youth, he excelled at water polo and later archery, always showing strengths and skills. Friends remember his high school band attempts and "Eddie Van Halen" guitar, which later turned into rock songs strummed by the campfire on long summer nights.
He was an expert craftsman and the proud owner of Decostrata Hard Surfaces.
Most remarkable about Shawn's life is the way he became a part of so many families, who all met and welcomed him into their lives. Shawn was a devoted and loyal friend, always willing to lend a helping hand.
Above all else, Shawn was most proud of his three sons, Caleb, Braeden and Hunter. More then anything, he would want them to remember how much he loved them and how he hoped he could be there for everything they'll accomplish in life.

We were shocked and saddened to learn of Shawn's passing, at far too young of an age. Always a helpful neighbour, our deepest condolensces to his boys, who he was so proud of, and his extended family as well. - Posted by: Stacey & Neil (Neighbours) on: Oct 28, 2020

I am so saddened to hear of Shawn's sudden passing. I knew him through my cousin who he lived with in California during college years. I was the lucky gal to visit them and hang out having a great laugh with these two jokers. I will always remember Shawn as an exceptional personality and I'm so sorry for the huge loss his friends, family and particularly his sons will be experiencing at this time. Shawn left this world much much too soon and the world has lost a very bright light. Rest easy Shawn. - Posted by: Sarah Jane Heke (Friend) on: Oct 28, 2020

I used to work with Shawn, he was so proud of what he did an he was amazing at it. I remember people would call him all the time for advice on how to do things... he used to call himself the “solution” hahah ... I’m still in shock still about everything. I remember showing up for work as he would be helping his boys get ready for their day. I remember him tell them every time they left he loved them and to help people. Shawn was always there willing to lend a hand. You will be missed my friend 🙏🏾 - Posted by: Erick Acosta (Friend) on: Oct 26, 2020

Shawn (Jake) and I went to Silver Heights Collegiate together. He and I played on the school Water Polo Team and the Provincial Team together. For a couple of years we coached the school team together as well. He was one of the most fun loving guys I knew in school. One of his prized possessions at the time was a vintage 1950s Truck that he drove to school everyday. There was a band called the "Stray Cats" that played music in a 50s honky tonk style . Liking them so much that he cut his hair to resemble to lead singer. He would regularly play that music from the truck's sound system in the parking lot. I always thing of Jake and that truck when I hear "Stray Cat Strut". L will miss him. He was my friend and teammate. - Posted by: Mickey Robertson (High School Friend and Teammate) on: Oct 26, 2020

My condolences to Shawn’s family. I wish I was the type of person to stay in touch as time went on and lives changed. I’m not big on social media, but I do remember Shawn as we were friends growing up in elementary school and graduated together. I remember him coming to my birthday party at 7 years old wearing an RCMP uniform just because I asked him to. He was that type of guy. We were friends for quite a long time until high school took us in separate directions. You were a great person then and always. God bless - Posted by: Kim Bollenbach (Acquaintance ) on: Oct 25, 2020

I was very saddened to hear of Shawn’s sudden passing, I had worked with Shawn from the time I was 18 to 25 years old and apprenticed under him for a few years of that 7 years, we always worked well together and remained friends even after both of us had left the company. He would help me out on tile projects I just wouldn’t have time to do and always answered my call for help. I last saw Shawn in mid August when he noticed my truck at a job site and just popped by to say hello. That’s the kind of guy he was always had time for others. My condolences to his kids and family. - Posted by: Ross Di Nicola (Friends ) on: Oct 25, 2020

I played water polo with Shawn many years ago. I will always remember him as having a great nature, making me laugh and being inclusive of all. I have a photo of him wearing a horrible pink and white earring of mine (it was the 80’s after all) that makes me smile to this day. I think that his hair was as big as mine! I lost touch with him over the years which is a real shame. I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Gone far too soon and far too young. - Posted by: Chris (Friend from water polo) on: Oct 24, 2020

I remember you mostly by your young years. I got to meet you as a baby, and saw you as a youngster, but, as we were at opposite ends of the cousin line, I was grown and gone for most of your young adulthood, and your journey into marriage and fatherhood. You are gone too young. Condolences to all family and friends. Rest easy. - Posted by: Jann Wabick (cousin) on: Oct 24, 2020

I am very shocked and saddened by Shawn's passing. He would always lend a hand and his work was exceptional. He was a great dad to his kids and you could see him in them. Shawn was a straight up guy. Honest and at times blunt, but always gave it to you straight - these types of guys are few and far between. My condolences go out to the Knechtel's - Shawn's extended family. - Posted by: Brian Fawkes (Acquaintance) on: Oct 24, 2020
