LOUIE: Ken Gain Sui Louie passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on November 3, 2020, following a brief illness. Ken lived a long and active life, filled with many joys that he shared with his family and friends. He arrived in Canada from Guangdong, China in the early 1950s, with a strong sense of optimism and responsibility, which he carried throughout his life. He is remembered for helping his relatives immigrate and transition to life in Canada. Ken's early experiences in Prairie diners and restaurants led him to Brandon where he lived for over 70 years. The Exchange Cafe, Belair Restaurant, Kenny's Townhouse Inn and Kam Lung Restaurant were some of the restaurants he helped establish. Meeting many friends along the way, he became a respected elder in his community, always empathetic and generous to others. He enjoyed traveling with his family, and in his retirement, he looked forward to his weekly coffee outings with his close friends. Ken was predeceased by his wife, Pui Chi, and his daughter, Marilyn. He will always be loved and remembered by his daughter and son, Marie and Lloyd, and his grandchildren Taylor and Mormei, among many other friends and family. A memorial service in Brandon will be held at a later date. The Louie family is sincerely grateful for the excellent care provided by the compassionate staff at the Grace Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grace Hospital Foundation, Winnipeg.

Ken and his family were mine and my families neighbor for close to 40 years. Ken always had time to chat and get to know you. I really missed him when he chose to move to an apartment and then a smaller home. When I would run into him out in public he always had time to chat and always gave me a hug. Condolences to Marie, Lloyd and family. Along with Ken and Karen and family. My heart and prayers are with you at this time. Hugs. - Posted by: Sharon Brennan (friend) on: Nov 07, 2020
