ERNEST ALEC CHARNEY

Ernie Charney passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at St. Boniface Hospital after a short illness. Ernie was born July 13, 1935.
He was predeceased by his wife Lillian (Kaban) on November 26, 2010. Ernie is survived by younger son Terry, who provided care and companionship to his Dad over the past few years, and older son Marvin, his wife Dianne (her sons, Marlin Fry and wife Laura, Ryan Fry).
Ernie was predeceased by his older brother Bill, younger brother Don (wife Donna), and Lil's brother Ed Kaban. He is survived by Bill's wife Gwen, several nieces and nephews, and Lil's brother Eugene Kaban.
Ernie and Lil both grew up in the Rossburn area in farming families. They were married on July 3, 1958. They raised their two sons on Truro Street in St. James in the home where he still lived. Ernie worked at Pepsi, retiring at the age of 60. He served on the board at the Deer Lodge Community Club for many years. Ernie and Lil enjoyed gardening and growing flowers in the yard at their home.
Ernie will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed. Ernie and Lil's ashes will be placed together in Chapel Lawn Cemetery.
