LEO CLARKE
We are forever grateful for the care and compassion shown by the nurses, doctors and aides who worked so hard to keep him with us, and stayed to be with him at the end.
Leo leaves to mourn his four children, Alison (Roger York), Jennifer (Don Presant and granddaughter, Catherine), and Paul (Kathleen, née Slobodian), grandsons, Charlie and Daniel, and Eric (Marica, née Mostert), and nephew, Rod Frisken (Leslie Walsh). Also mourning his loss are his dear friends, Irene Baldwin, Larry Rowland, and Martha Wood, among many other friends and family.
Dad was born in Winnipeg, July 6, 1928 to Amy and Charlie Clarke of Valour Road. Throughout his long working life with Eaton's, Federated Co-op, Gambles Department Stores, Big 4 Sales and lastly Mac's Convenience Stores, he was respected for his knowledge, fairness and personnel skills in business and retail management, assisting also on United Church Boards as finance consultant.
Dad's artistic talent, passion for horses, carpentry skills, and devotion to children with disabilities, led him in his leisure and retirement years to the Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre, Manitoba Riding for the Disabled, and building a cozy cottage at the lake. He was also an accomplished private pilot for many years.
We have been so proud of our Dad since our Mom, Jean (née Murray), passed away in 2013, enduring the challenges of being alone after 60 years of marriage. We know you both will be with us always.
The family held a graveside service at St. Vital Cemetery on Thursday, November 12, 2020, and Leo was laid to rest beside his beloved Jean.
His family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by visiting his tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com. A photo-biography, as well as memories and stories, published by those who knew him, are available there.
For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre in in Île-des-Chênes, Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
