JACOBA ADRIANA ZONNEVELD
Jackie was born on March 27, 1928, in Soest, Province Utrecht, The Netherlands to Anna and Pleun Zonneveld, youngest of four siblings - Helena (Leny), Gerrit and Jan preceded her in death.
Jackie loved to travel. She moved to Winnipeg with her sister and mother in 1954. Leny and Anna eventually returned to The Netherlands while Jackie remained, became a Canadian citizen in the early 1960s, and had a 25 year career with Great-West Life.
She travelled frequently to Europe and the United States, to visit family. She also enjoyed cruises to places such as Russia and the Panama Canal. Her trip to the Netherlands for a liberation celebration with sister Leny was a highlight.
Her favourite hobbies were photography and gardening. She was always busy at St. John's Presbyterian Church, which she joined in 1963, photographing events, writing for the Accent, creating word puzzles, and being the first to formally greet members and visitors by handing out bulletins.
Above all, Jackie will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, her good humour, her kind heart, and her infectious laugh.
She leaves niece Christine (Bill Hudlow) Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA; nephews, Danny (Sabrena) Parker, Colorado, USA, Ernie (Linda), Berthoud, Colorado, USA, Peter (Diana) Geneva, Switzerland, Gert (Susan) London, UK, Dick (Woo) St. Paul, Minnesota, USA; and sister-in-law Ida, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
Additionally, she leaves 13 great-nieces and nephews, Chelsea, Jim, Danny, Peter, Grace, Andy, Grant, Alexander, Gabby, Ava, Jack, Daniel and Ella; and three great-great nieces and nephew: Emma, Beckham and Hazel.
Finally, she is survived by her longtime friend, Janie Vaarmeyer; and her faithful and dear church friends, Ann and David Brough, Kevin MacDonald and Merv Worden Jr.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Maples Personal Care Home.
Cremation has taken place. Interment at Glen Eden and a celebration of Jackie's life will be held at St. John's at a later date.

My dear "Aunt" Jackie. She was good friends with my mom and dad, and she babysit my sister, brother, and me. She spent a lot of time with our family both in Winnipeg, and then in Rolette, ND. I have many fond memories of her from my childhood. She vacationed with us in Disneyworld one summer when I was little. She would come to Rolette in her little orange car and spend a week with us kids while my parents spent a week traveling. She would often bring us some "Manitoba bologna" to eat, as well as bringing us some coins for gifts. I still have a small gold coin she bought for me, as well as several other coins. I remember running downstairs on Saturday mornings, the day after she arrived, and waking her up to watch cartoons with me. I remember her coming into my room at night and singing me a song before I went to sleep. She was a kind, loving, and fun "Aunt." Our family was able to visit her 2 summers ago, an I'm so glad we were able to spend some time with her then! She is loved, and she will be missed, and I look forward to getting a big hug from her in Heaven on day!! Psalm 116:15 - Posted by: Noel Schaak ("Adopted" nephew) on: Jan 26, 2021

Jackie always had a smile for everyone, she was a very conscientious church worker always helping at the fall tea and bazaar. She loved to be at the front door to welcome people and hand out the bulletins. Such a kind hearted generous lady - RIP Jackie, you are well loved and never forgotten. - Posted by: Florence Horan (friend from St.John's Presbyterian church ) on: Nov 29, 2020
