JAN (JOHN) MARCINOWSKI
Jan is lovingly remembered by his wife Maria; sons, Kris (Krystal) and Adam (Tabitha); grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nicholas, and Rachel. He leaves behind a brother Jozef (Renata) and family in Przychojec, Poland. Jan was predeceased by his parents, Antonina and Franciszek.
Jan was born in Rudnik nad Sanem, Poland on April 13, 1950. He immigrated to Canada in August 1975 and made Winnipeg his home. He married Maria, in September 1975. His love for his family motivated Jan to dedicate himself to taking on two careers, working at CP Rail for 34 years and at Central Products and Foods Ltd. until his retirement in 2018 after 44 years of service.
He was a devout Catholic, belonging to Holy Ghost Parish since his arrival in Canada. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 9790 Fathers A and J Kulawy, volunteering his talents and time.
He was beginning to enjoy his retirement through travel and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid fan of the Winnipeg Jets, always reading and listening about his team and enjoyed watching games from Section 218 since their return. He loved gardening and working outdoors until he was unable to continue to do so.
The family thanks all who were involved in his care over the last few months: Dr. C. Winogrodzka, Dr. A.L. Tan, Dr. C. Harlos, Dr. M. Sochocki, the CancerCare Manitoba team at Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, and the staff at Health Sciences Centre GB3.
A private funeral liturgy will be celebrated at Holy Ghost Parish on November 28, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. after which he will be laid to rest in Holy Ghost Cemetery. To access the livestream of the liturgy, go to www.holyghost.ca at service time.
Should friends desire, contributions can be made to the Church of your choice in a Mass intention for the repose of Jan's soul.

Znałem Johna, przez wiele lat pracowaliśmy w sklepie CP Rail, Winnipeg Diesel, nie można było znaleźć lepszego elektryka z doświadczeniem w lokomotywie niż John. I wish to extend my condolences to John's family. I worked with John for many years at the diesel shop and was shocked to hear of his passing. It seems like just yesterday I was talking to him in the Canadian Tire parking lot about a defective tire he had just purchased and it needed to be replaced. My sympathies to his family for the loss of a great co-worker and Rail Road friend ... The man could patch up just about any locomotive and get it on it's way . My deepest condolences to Mary, Kris, Adam, their families and friends. John was always pleasant to be around at the many family gatherings. He had a strong presence, but a soft and very generous heart that was so evident. I was blessed to have known him and enjoyed many precious moments discussing various subjects with him. Pan Marcinowski was always visible during SPK Polish School of Dance events - he would often help out in the kitchen to lend a helping had. He had a distinct presence when he entered a room and would give you a head nod from afar if he recognized you. My first memory of John was in 1988 I was first introduced to him at work. I was a Engineer and John came out to the yard to repair the locomotive...many times. Years later i got to know john at the Diesel repair facility. He was my go to man if things were not working out for me. Nothing never worked out for me. So John was on my speed dial. My kids went to Holy ghost school and i would occasionaly bump into John and talk shop talk. I retired in 2015 never got a chance to see say goodbye to John. It was about 2 years ago i bumped into John at Safeway. I was very happy to see hime. I got a chance to say "John you were one of the good guys, the best i missed you." John and I talked shop talk again for quite awhile. We said our goodbyes. You take care of yourself up there john "me fix" You were one of the good guys. It was with great sadness and shock that we learned of Jan’s passing. Our sincere condolences to Marysia, Kris, Adam and the entire family on the loss of your husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a hardworking and gentle man with great faith, much pride, much love for his family and our friend. No matter what the circumstances are, it is never easy accepting the loss of someone so dear to us. Take care in knowing that GOD had a plan that included Jasiu. Although our paths crossed only a dozen or so times John was always welcoming and kind. His strong character lives on in his children and grandchildren.
