ROSS OADES
1929 - 2020
Part adventurer and part inventor, growing up on the family farm in Rosser, Manitoba, taught Ross to be innovative and self-reliant. He firmly believed that with hard work anything was possible. As a young man in Winnipeg, he opened Ross Realty, whose slogan "Don't Toss, Ring Ross!" adorned many a front lawn. He later founded R.A. Oades Agencies, a property development and management company. Over the course of his life Ross actualized many dreams, including designing a family home on Pawnee Bay, Niakwa Park; building a luxury houseboat in Kenora, Ontario; learning to fly a plane; developing plans and prototypes for affordable potable water filtration systems; and developing waterfront cottage properties in Southern Manitoba and Western Ontario.
Ross was pre-deceased by his two children, Kent Oades and Joyce Brownscombe. He is survived by his children, John (Darcie) Oades and Lorraine Oades, his four grandchildren, Angela Rodenburgh, Rick (Jeannette) Adam, Shannon Adam, and Sasha Brownscombe, and the mother of his children, Muriel Moreau.
In his later years Ross was fortunate to have such caring friends as Mike and Leslie MacCorby, who were like a second family to him. Ross died peacefully at River Park Gardens on November 16 at the age of 91. With the help of his friends and family, he spent his last years in quiet dignity.
We are grateful to the staff at River Park who took such good care of him and made his last days comfortable. Goodbye Ross, we will miss you.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

So sorry I did not know of Ross’s passing until now. I have many fond memories of Ross during my whole life. He and Dad were great friends for so many years. I have fond memories of times both our families spent together. I hope his family can think of the great times and use those memories to think of Ross. - Posted by: Donna (Bulloch) Roed (Family friend) on: Dec 24, 2020

So sad to hear this news. I have so many memories of Ross and his family. My most treasured memory is listening to Ross whistle while playing cards with Mom and Dad. It was just beautiful to listen to as I fell asleep. I remember not being shy around him, and sitting on his lap as a little girl telling him that i was going to marry him. Great memories. He and my Dad were best buddies for so many years. Rest in peace Ross💞 - Posted by: Kelly (Bulloch) Pettit (Family friend) on: Nov 30, 2020
