GEORGE EDOUARD MARION
May 23, 1939 - November 25, 2020

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of George Marion.
George was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Marie (Tytgat), his first wife Beryl (Boberg), and his brothers, Rosario, Marc and Guy.
He is survived and will be sadly missed by his wife Lee; his children, Michelle and Daniel; his stepchildren, Kathy, Dawn and Lori; six grandchildren; his siblings, Paul, Raymond, Roland and Marie-Jeanne, cousins and many nieces and nephews.
George had a very successful career as a general contractor which he thoroughly enjoyed. He built over 500 homes, 35 gas stations across Canada, renovated hotels and just before his retirement built a large chemical plant.
He volunteered on numerous boards and supported many charities, coached ringette, hockey and soccer. He was appointed to the Residential Tenancies Commission, representing landlords. He appeared at both French and English hearings and was well respected for his judgements.
He enjoyed winters in Mesa with friends and family, and summers working on the cottage at Plage Albert. A lifetime member at St. Boniface Golf Course where he golfed with the "Dawn Patrol" and enjoyed his coffee sessions. George was passionate about politics, supporting campaigns with his time and financial contributions and would never back off in having a debate regarding current affairs.
Above all, his faith has been a very important factor in his life. It carried him through his illness for the past two years.
Cremation has taken place and unfortunately due to Covid restrictions, a private service will be held.
The family welcomes donations to the charity of your choice in George's memory, as an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers.

  • My deepest condolences to the family. Every Summer I looked forward to either talking with cousin Georges or having coffee with him at Tim Horton’s. He was always so interested in my missionary work. What fascinated me about him was how he made me thing of « Matante Marie » (my gran-aunt - my Grandmother Alice’s sister). I was particularly fond of Matante Marie and it seemed to me that her goodness shone through her son, Cousin Georges ! This summer I could not travel because of COVID, but Georges kept up with me in FB. Today I offered mass for his eternal repose ! My sympathy to Lee, Michelle and Daniel as well as Paul and Marie-Jeanne. His siblings and others of the great Marion Family ! May Georges Rest In Peace ! - Posted by: Monseigneur Michel Palud, C.O. (Petit-cousin) on: Nov 30, 2020

  • Dear Lee, Michelle, Daniel and Family, We wish to offer you our sincerest condolences. We are thinking about all of you a lot, knowing that Georges's departure will leave a great void and be the source of a keen suffering. Words cannot ease the suffering, but we would nevertheless like to assure you of our prayers, our love and our support. George left his mark in the hearts of all those who knew him. He was a man who was so very rich in wisdom, kindness and charity. We were so blessed to have him as a cousin! We hope you are all able to embrace your good memories at this time. We will have a mass celebrated for the repose of his soul by our son, Monsignor Michel Palud, missionary in Jamaica. With our deepest and sincerest sympathy, Leon and Rose-Marie Palud - Posted by: Léon and Rose-Marie Palud (cousin) on: Nov 30, 2020

  • Lee, I was very sorry to get this news this morning. George was a good friend and always ready to give golf swing tips. We've been missing him around the club. He was so proud to host his kids for lunch. I'll think of him often, especially when passing the pond by the ninth green. Please take good care. • Michelle, Daniel and Mrs Marion I am so sad to hear of George’s passing. He was such a great man to me when I was a young kid hanging around the house and pool all the time everyday during the summer. Allowing me to hit golf balls in the back yard from the tee box he made facing the Mint and allowing me a taste of his Club Beer on hot summer days. I will never forget the sight of those stubby bottles stacked in the garage. Later in life I would run into him at StB and hang out for a beer after golf and listen to a hundred “ya eh” from him as I told him what I was now doing for work. I will miss getting to see him again. Sorry I won’t get to see you guys at a celebration of George, but he is in my thoughts. - Posted by: Michael Hill (Family Friend) on: Nov 28, 2020
