ANN CANTAFIO
December 18, 1940 - December 3, 2020
Ann was born December 18, 1940 in East Selkirk where friend and family bonds began and lasted throughout her life. As a girl, Ann lived with family in the North End of Winnipeg and St. Boniface. Later, she worked in offices in East Selkirk and Winnipeg and lived with family in Transcona where she met her love, Tom Cantafio. Ann married Tom on October 9, 1965.
Ann's life centered around her family, neighbours and friends made through Tom's work and living in Transcona, her childrens' sports, and at Nutimik Lake. She enjoyed taking road trips with her family, gardening, and reading. However, the greatest enjoyment throughout her later years was being a Baba - she loved babysitting her grandchildren and later on seeing them perform at school and music events and cheering them on at their sporting events. Ann returned to school and work before retiring with Tom. Ann was a breast cancer survivor.
Predeceased by her husband Tom; parents, Mary and Peter Hrymak; sisters-in-law, Mattea Altomare and Gilda Porco; brothers-in-law, Carmine Altomare and Gabriel Porco; niece Lisa Hrymak and nephew Frank Altomare.
Ann leaves to cherish her memory, her three sons, Blair (Suzanne), Dale (Gretchen) and Brent (Sonia); her six grandchildren, Daniel, Emma, Noah, Dustin, Carter and Jack; brothers, Danny (Gloria) and Peter; nephews, nieces and cousins in Canada and the United States.
We would like to thank Dr. Nadine Fontigny who provided excellent care throughout the years. As well, thanks to St. Boniface Hospital and the palliative and home care teams that supported Ann. Special thanks to our family and friends for their love and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
A private service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., with interment to follow at Transcona Cemetery. A livestream of the service will be available at www.cropo.com.

So sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. Our deepest condolences go out to Blair, Dale, Brent, & your Families. Growing up next door to the Cantafio's was a real joy. Our family treasured the many conversations we had with you boys, and your Mom & Dad. They enjoyed coming over to pick apples off of our Dad's tree's every fall. We shared many things together, like growing grapes, shovelling snow ,and cutting each other's grass. We would see Ann in her back yard busy gardening or just relaxing in the shade with a good book. We couldn't have asked for better Neighbours. We will miss you Ann, God Bless you and R.I.P. - Posted by: The Selmanovic Family (Friends & Neighbour) on: Dec 08, 2020

We are so sorry to hear Ann passed away. Ann lived with us in Selkirk when she worked at the old Selkirk Hospital. She was just a young girl. She met Tom and they fell In love. I was honoured to be her bridesmaid and stood up with your uncle Peter. They truly had a strong love and left a legacy of 3 great sons. We were at 2 of the boys weddings and it was wonderful to see her and Tom, but as years go by we lost touch, I’m sorry for you loss. - Posted by: Donna and Doug Smederovac (Long time friends) on: Dec 05, 2020

Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you Brent, Dale and Blair and families. Your dear mom was a delightful lady always with a smile. And she was a dedicated hockey fan to watch her sons and grandsons play hockey. You could always find Anne and Tom at all their games. May your memories bring comfort to you all. - Posted by: Carol & Glenn Chudley (Friends) on: Dec 05, 2020
