DR. IAN JOHNSTONE KERR
October 1, 1941 December 3, 2020
Ian, born in Aberdeen, Scotland, graduated from the U of Pennsylvania before graduate work at the U of Minnesota. Retiring early from the U of Manitoba, he continued his research and active writing on India and most recently extended this to Labour History in an International Context. His research on Indian railways shaped the field. Ian was valued for his kindness, wisdom, and gentle humour.
Donations in lieu of flowers should go to the ALS Society of Manitoba or the I.J. Kerr Legacy Archival Fund payable to K. Kerr.
Ian's family kindly requests that his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by visiting his tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com. A photo-biography, as well as memories and stories published by those who knew him, are available there.

I played pickup basketball with and against Ian on Tuesday nights at Grant Park High School. He was an enthusiastic player and a true gentle person both on and off the court. Winning wasn’t important to him. Enjoying the game and the comraderie were. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Allan Delavau (Basketball Buddy) on: Dec 12, 2020
