ERNEST WILK
Ernie spent his younger years growing up in Ladywood, MB the son of Joseph and Mary Wilk and brother to Lorne and Virginia.
There was nothing more important to Ernie than family, and his grew when he met the love of his life, Eva, and raised their three children, Sandra (Cam) Case, Charlene (Doug) Engstrom and Robert (Keri). As that family grew Ernie became "Papa" to six grandchildren who all adored him. The legend of "Papa" extended further to 11 great- grandchildren who cherished how he always treated every child as the most important person in the room.
Right after the importance of family to Ernie, was the value of friends. He was a great friend to many and the greatest Uncle Ernie to many more.
Ernie was a man who sincerely believed wealth, true wealth came from the love of family and friends and Ernie passed away a very wealthy man!
Family would like to thank the exceptional staff of the Charity Road wing at River East PCH for the kind and loving care they extended Ernie in his final years.
Plans for a virtual service are pending, please check Cropo Funeral Chapel website for further details.

Our deepest sympathies on the passing of Ernie. We remember him as a kind and generous neighbour and friend. As our kids were the same age, our lives intertwined during those young years on St Martin Blvd and it was always a little extra fun with Ernie around. It’s sad we can’t gather at this time but we will be viewing the service virtually. Thinking of you Sandra, Char and Rob and families. Sincere Sympathy, Stan, Edna, Lisa, Valerie and Rob Vivian - Posted by: The Vivian Family (Friends and neighbours ) on: Dec 17, 2020

I have many great memories with my uncle Ernie. A lot of them are around Christmas time when our families would get together. There was always great food and of coarse lots of fun with my cousins. I will miss that gorgeous tan my uncle always had and that dazzling smile. Condolences to Sandra, Char, Rob and their families. Sending you all love. This is indeed sad news to hear of Ernie’s passing. Our sincere condolences to all of his family. Ernie was a compassionate friend, my father told us that while my mother battled cancer for a year and a half, Ernie called my father every single day to see how the both of them were doing and asked if there was anything he could do. He was a true friend with whom my father cherished until his own passing. His daughter Charlene brought Ernie in his wheelchair to the St. Boniface Hospital to say good bye to his dear longtime friend. I heard my father speaking often of how Ernie had such a close relationship with all of his children and grandchildren and how they kept in close contact. That is truly a rewarding life. Our appreciation for knowing a wonderful and kind man from Bernie Koley's family. - Posted by: Kym Peixoto (Acquaintance) on: Dec 15, 2020

While I didn't know Mr. Wilk, I do know what a wonderful daughter he raised in Charlene. Clearly and extension of his own personality and kindness, Charlene is one of the warmest and kindest people I know, along with Doug. From Kathy, Cody, Troy and myself, our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to you, Charlene, and Doug and Troy and the rest of your family. Take care of each other. Sincerely, Brian, Kathy, Cody, Troy and family - Posted by: Brian Walker (Family friend of Charlene and Doug) on: Dec 12, 2020

Very fond memories of spending a lot of time with best buddy Rob and his dad, Mr Wilk, AKA "Big E" at St Martin house or in the fall chasing prairie chickens around the Interlake. Always warm and kind man. A good man. Thinking of you Rob. - Posted by: Brad Nichol (family friend) on: Dec 12, 2020

I knew Ernie even though I am much younger than him. He went to school in Sand Hill, Manitoba and grew up less than one mile east of the school which was across the road from our house. So, his family were neighbours and I even remember his parents. He attended school with my older brothers and sisters and lived in the area once known as Sand Hill, Manitoba. I remember him as being quiet and good looking. Condolences to his family. - Posted by: Kathy Krawchuk (Childhood Neighbour to Ernie) on: Dec 12, 2020
