LEONA ELENORE OZOG
July 27, 1933 - December 9, 2020

Leona entered into Eternal Glory on December 9, 2020, at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg.
Leona was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Katherine Turek, her husband Bruno; and is survived by her sister Joan.
Leona worked for the Government of Canada and then continued her education and received her teaching degree. Leona had a very fulfilling career as a teacher at various schools and retired from teaching at Margaret Park School.
She was a great animal lover and found much enjoyment from God's creatures - especially Lucky the cat; Lucky misses her.
Leona enjoyed the arts and loved playing the piano.
Her faith and belief in God provided Leona with much strength. She will be fondly remembered by so many for her kindness and gentle nature.
A special thank you to all who visited Leona while at home or at the hospital and also to the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, Para Med, the many doctors, nurses and aides for their kindness and caring service. Also, an extra special thanks to the home care aides that were always there for her well-being. We are extremely grateful.
A Mass of Resurrection for Leona will be held at a later date at Holy Ghost Church.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Mrs. Ozog was my kindergarten teacher in '92 as well as for my siblings at Margaret Park. I have fond memories of having her as a teacher! She always had a heart of gold and was a fun and encouraging teacher! Sending Condolences to the family. - Posted by: Rebecca M. (Former student) on: Dec 22, 2020

  • I remember Leona, as she was my kindergarten teacher at Margaret Park School way back in 1976,,, thru the years, i would run into her in various places like Kildonan Park, or most recently when her husband was sick and was a patient of mine in the hospital, she was Thrilled that one of her former students, was taking care of him ,and made sure the whole ward knew including her husband that I was her student in Kindergarten.. .which was many years ago, I also had her as a patient a few times and she was again thrilled to see me, and always reminded me of some of my antics, when I was young. I am sad to learn of her passing and will always remember her kindness to me and how she helped shape my future starting at such an early age, she left an impression on me that lasted throughout my life... RIP Leona (Miss Turek ,as i remember her as) .. condolences to her family. Former student and friend Tammy Solleveld. - Posted by: Tammy Solleveld (former student and friend ) on: Dec 19, 2020
