CHUN KEU CHOY
January 26, 1942 December 5, 2020
He is survived by his two children; a son-in-law; two grandchildren; siblings in Canada, USA and China; good friend Dong and his family; as well as numerous other friends and family.
Keu was born in Canton, China and immigrated to Canada in 1965. He owned Q's Restaurant in Thompson during the 1970s until he moved his family to Winnipeg. Keu worked at the Viscount Gort Hotel from the early 1980s until this spring. He was a skilled chef and his Chinese-Canadian specialties will be missed by many. He was a big hockey fan and loved the Winnipeg Jets.
Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held, in recognition of COVID restrictions. A celebration of Keu's life will be held when we are safely able to gather again.
St. Amant held a special place in Keu's heart, as his son has been under their care since the late 1970s. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Amant in Keu's memory.

I lit a candle the other day for what would have been your 79th birthday. To my long time friend, today, I still can't believe that you are gone. Frustrating to think that you would still be here if it wasn't for what our world is going through right now. Here is to a 20 year friendship with so many fun memories. You were a true friend to me and now to my children. You will be forever in my heart. - Posted by: Sherrine Lounsbury (Friend) on: Jan 28, 2021

I’d had the pleasure to know Keu for a very long time. I recall sharing moments in the workplace with Keu when he taught me his trade. We shared moments in the deli working on food prep or making his Chinese food dishes during a busy work day. I enjoyed the times late in the day when I helped him prepare for the new day. He taught me to roll egg rolls, wontons for soup. He showed me many things. We stood side by side talking of the day’s events and just life in general while he corrected me on the food prep. I recall hearing him say, “Not like that ... like this!” A job he enjoyed not only for the many delicious foods he prepared but the numerous friendships Keu made in his workplace. They were friendships Keu cherished everyday he came to work. I’ll miss you my friend rest well - Posted by: RM (Friend and coworker) on: Dec 22, 2020
