PAT MCBRIDE
(nee FRIESEN)
May 21, 1952 - December 12, 2020

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, gramma, sister, aunt and friend Pat McBride after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Tracy (Chris); son Andy (Christine); grandchildren, Jackson, Sam, Lauren and Grace; sisters, Marlene (Daryl) and Diana (Rick); sister-in-law Edna; nieces, Kristi, Jill, Erin and Kate; and her best friend Donna; as well as many other family and friends.
Pat was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Elizabeth Friesen and her older brother Garry.
For much of our childhood, Mom was a stay-at-home mother, often working the tax season at U & R Tax Services. From there, she worked at McKnight's Pharmacy for many years before returning to her true love, the tax business. Mom worked in the head office of U & R, which later became Liberty Tax Service, before becoming a proud Liberty Tax franchise owner. She was a model franchise owner, providing training for other franchisees, winning many company awards for her excellence, and was used as a shining example for others in the business. Mom was adored by her clients and loyal staff.
Mom loved to travel, visiting many places across Canada and the United States, Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico, and her dream of a lifetime, Europe. She spent her summers in Manitoba with family and friends, first with her trailer at Camp Hideaway on the Lee River, then for many years at her site at Relax Ridge in Pinawa. Eventually she found her true "happy place" when she bought her Cornercopia Cottage in Winnipeg Beach.
The family would like to thank all her doctors and nurses who helped care for Pat in her final months. A special thank you goes out to her friend Donna who went above and beyond in her care.
Due to Covid restrictions, a funeral will not be held at this time. A Celebration of Life may be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, The Lung Association of Manitoba, or a charity of one's choice.
Our mom was the best mom in the world and a doting gramma, whose grandchildren thought she hung the moon. We can't imagine going on without her, but know that the love, compassion, and strength she showed us every day will live on in all of us.

Mom, we love you more.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Your mom was truly one of a kind, authentic person. She and I had many adventures together growing up in the 60's we were on top of the world, whether it be rocking with the Guess Who at Earl Grey Community Centre or slow dancing with summer boys at the Night Hawk Cafe, we had rock n roll Brothers who rivaled Elvis with their cool. Your mom had the best family of all time! Loved by all and missed as well. Rock on cousin, till we meet again on the beach or dancing our socks off you are the Queen of Cool. - Posted by: Susan loeppky (Cousin) on: Jun 26, 2021

  • My sincere condolences to Pat’s family and friends. It was truly a pleasure for me to assist such a wonderful and caring person with the move to her condo. It was inspiring to see that her enthusiasm to settle into her new home was not only for herself, but also about the joy for others, especially her grandchildren. - Posted by: Walter Boni (Aquaintance/REALTOR) on: Dec 22, 2020

  • As a child I remember many Sunday visits with our Friesen cousins. They were always filled with good times playing games or having a meal together. My sympathies and condolences go out to Pat's entire family. - Posted by: Roger Friesen (Cousin) on: Dec 19, 2020
