VIRGINIA RENTZ
August 4, 1926 - December 17, 2020

We are deeply saddened to announce our Mother and Grandmother, Virginia Rentz, passed away on December 17, 2020, at the age of 94, at the Park Manor Care Home as a result of COVID-19.
Virginia Woiniak was born on August 4, 1926 in Poland. She immigrated to Canada with her parents at the age of three. They arrived in Canada, first settling in Saskatchewan before moving to Winnipeg. Once in Winnipeg, Virginia's only sister Millie was born. She spent her early years living on Burrows Avenue, moving to Transcona where she spent the rest of her life.
Virginia met Elmer Rentz at a dance, and they were married on August 11, 1951. Together, they raised five children.
Throughout her life, Virginia worked at many jobs including at Eaton's, Premier Printing, Dal's and The Bay (Paddlewheel).
Family was always most important to Virginia. They always came first, often above her own needs. She loved family gatherings especially Christmas and birthdays.
Virginia was a truly kind and friendly person. She made friends wherever she went, even as she got older and moved into Park Manor Care Home five years ago. She had many hobbies and interests, like gardening. She could save any plant and make it grow. She passed her love of gardening onto her children and loved sitting outside and visiting their gardens. She also loved animals - especially dogs, which she cared for many of over the years. She loved to cook and was known to bring her famous cabbage rolls and coleslaw to every gathering. She loved to play bingo and spent a lot of time socializing at the Transcona Legion with Elmer. She loved to take day trips and drives with her family, visiting parks and going out for lunch after.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband Elmer; parents, Karl and Kataryna Woiniak; mother and father-in-law, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Richard (Sue), Randy (Peggy), Ron (Cindy), Gerry (Judy); daughter Sandra (Rick); grandchildren, Carla (Sean), Tannis (Ken), Neil (Emilie), Adriana, Austin and Troy; her beloved sister Millie Borkowski, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Park Manor Care Home for their care and support during this time.

Mom, covid may have kept us apart,
but it couldn't stop our love for you.
You will always and forever be in our hearts.
Rest in Peace.

A celebration of her life will take place via a live broadcast on Wednesday, December 23 at 11:00 a.m. CST.
