Ivan Fitzsimmons

I chose my grandfather to interview for this English project. His name is Ivan Fitzsimmons, he is 84 years old right now and he was born August 30, 1933. He was born in Harte, Manitoba and stayed there until he was six years old, he moved because his dad worked for Canadian National Railway. His first job was with the Canadian National Railway with his father, he worked with them for 12 years. After that he got a new job becoming a miner somewhere in Snow Lake, he worked with them for six years. After that he got an opportunity to be a bus driver which he took and retired at the age of 65 making it the last job he had. Then I asked him some life questions like what was the happiest moment of your life and he replied "marrying your grandma and meeting my grandkids for the first time". (and they have been married for 66 years!) I found that adorable. Then I asked him what was the scariest moment of your life and this is my favourite part - when he worked at a farm he was working on a tractor and then when he was driving on the mud, he slipped the tractor nearly crushing him, that's pretty scary I have to say. The last question I asked was what was the most memorable moment of your life and he said "getting my first radio in 1943", then he went on that he remembered running across the field as a little kid just to watch his favourite show called Sargent Preston, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and his dog Preston. My grandpa's advice to our generation is stay in school, don't get in trouble and always try your best. Thank you for reading to the end.
