RICHARD TITTLEMIER

Richard was born in Winnipeg on July 3, 1949 and spent his first year living on the family farm in River Hills, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his mother Olga (Abraham) Tittlemier and father Roy Tittlemier.
In 1950, after the passing of his father, the family moved to Transcona where he lived his whole life. At four years old Richard contracted polio and had the loving support of his mother and big sisters.
Anyone who knew Richard knows his passion for nice cars and trucks, attending car show and shines and spending countless hours at Henry's car wash. He loved to restore old vehicles, pull out engines and rebuild them. Richard enjoyed trips to the drag races in Brainerd and Las Vegas with his good friend Garry and always looked forward to the "next one".
Richard worked at Griffin Canada and retired as an inspector in 2014. After retirement he spent time at his cottage at Hillside Beach but his home was in Transcona. His retirement years also brought him his dogs, Chubbs, Jocko and Penny.
Richard enjoyed life. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Richard is survived by his sisters, Del (Ken) Jones, Wendy Newman and Brenda (Dave) Ruff; his nieces, Lisa (Ken) Rempel, Corrine Walker, Leah Newman, Shaundra Ruff, also his great-nieces, Sarah (Kevin) Lewis and Chelsea (Geoff, Rosalie and Forester) Kilfoyle.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Riverview Health Centre on Ward 3E for the compassionate care they gave to Richard. Also to WRHA Home Care who made it possible for Richard to be at home with his dog Penny for as long as possible.
Please make a donation to Manitoba Possible (formerly known as Society for Manitobans with Disabilities) in Richard's memory.

Condolences & Memories (13 entries)

  • So sorry to hear of Bishe’s passing, he was a good friend of my husband (Curtis) so I’m sure they are together snowmobiling on some wonderful trails! Condolences to the family, he was a wonderful man. - Posted by: Cynthia Miller (Friend) on: Feb 11, 2021

  • Sincerest condolences to the family. Although we knew Richard's health was declining, it was still incredibly difficult to hear the news. Richard and I have been very close friends for the past 40 plus years. Some of the most enjoyable memories I have of him are the many trips we took together to various US drag strips, weekends snowmobiling and backyard BBQs. Richard was a very intelligent man who knew everything there was to know about cars and motors, maybe that's because he owned over 80 vehicles in his lifetime -- they were his passion! He was a loving and responsible pet owner to his three dogs: Chubbs, Jocko and Penny. Life won't be the same without him. Rest in peace dear friend, until we meet again. • Our sincerest condolences to Bishe’s family. There are so many memories and good times to recall, from Bison Dragways, “the farm” barbecues and social gatherings, to list just a few. Although many years have passed and friendships not as close as “in the day”, he will be always remembered as a “gentle giant” and a man of extreme kindness. • Richard, (Bishe) was a longtime friend since the early 70's. He had an amazing knowledge of old cars, make and year. He will be missed by many. He loved his dogs, I hope Penny found a loving home. He left us much too young. Condolences to his family. - Posted by: jeff & Sylvia pitre (Friend) on: Jan 23, 2021

  • I knew Richard (Butchy) most of my life. He was my family’s neighbour on Bond Street when we were little and my sister and I played many a game of street baseball and hide and seek along with the rest of the neighborhood children. In our teens, although we were no longer neighbours, we often found ourselves amongst the same groups gathering outdoors or at a party. Ray and I are saddened to hear of his passing, but having read the obituary, it sounds like he had a very full and interesting life. Sadly his life should have gone on for many more years. You’ll be missed Butchy! - Posted by: Kitty carney (Friend) on: Jan 23, 2021
