SOPHIA KORYTKO
1921 - 2021
She leaves behind her daughter Lesia, granddaughters, Olia, Halyna and Andrew (great-grandchildren, Kalyna and Odessa), and extended family in Canada and Ukraine.
She was born on February 21, 1921 in Selo Nitsche, Ternopil. Sophia came to Canada in 1969 after being separated from her late husband Stefan for 25 years. She was a member of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, the Taras Shevchenko Foundation, Oseredok, and Institute Prosvita. Since coming to Canada, she had been a Parishioner of Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral and active in the Church Women's League for over 50 years. Sophia will be remembered as a person with great kindness and generosity and will be greatly missed.
Sophia and family were grateful to all the wonderful care staff at Holy Family Home for being there for her during this unprecedented time.
Due to Covid Restrictions a private Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Michael Buyachok and Father Ihor Shved, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 30 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in West St. Paul.
