  • Mike was one of these guys a mentor, a big brother, a friend. I remember myself, Mike, and Percy doing work around the house or we’d go to a Jets game. Mike would have projects for me to do when he was operating Budget Electric. One of the nicest guys I knew. The last time I saw Mike was at his residence in June 2020. We had a good chat, he issued me his business card. Mike, You will never be forgotten and thank you so much for being in the family. My mom enjoyed cooking for you. It is because you respected her as much as she respected you. RIP Mike until we meet in the spiritual world. - Posted by: Jeffrey Houle (Family member) on: Oct 05, 2022

  • My sincere condolences to Florence and family. RIP My good old pal. I know it’s kind of late but just found out today wanting to connect with Sam (Mike) for annual or bi-annual chat. Tried to reach him in summer but failed to connect, thinking might be on vacation. Mike deserves to take one for he’d worked hard all his life. ( budget electric ) we bowled together for decade and half and had a blast. You’ll be dearly missed for sure my good old pal. - Posted by: Steve Lee (Good old friend and bowling partner) on: Dec 16, 2021

  • I have known Mike since the late '70s when I engaged Budget Electric to become my electrical contractor of choice for the sound & lighting installations my company at the time - Bolt sound & Lighting, was doing in various bars and night clubs in Winnipeg. Mike and I became friends and after I sold my business in 1991 and chose a different career path Mike and I still managed to connect semi regularly and go for the odd lunch. I had lunch last with Mike in September of 2019 but ever since COVID invaded everyone's life in March of 2020 I have not seen Mike or had much of a social life with anyone for that matter. Only recently have I started trying to connect with friends once again now that most of us have been COVID vaccinated and life is beginning to return to normal. To that end I recently tried calling Mike to see if he wanted to meet for lunch. Obviously I was not aware of his passing away. To my dismay when I discovered Mike's phone numbers (business and cell) were not in service I figured something was up and my intuition caused me to check The Free Press obituaries only to find out Mike had passed away last February. I feel so saddened as Mike was one of the nicest men I have ever met, so down to earth, honest, jovial, and always willing to help anybody anytime, just an all around good guy and family man. I was so looking forward to having another lunch with Mike and catching up. My sincere belated condolences go out Florence, Mike's children, and other family members on their loss. He will truly be missed. - Posted by: Dave Johnson (Friend) on: Nov 18, 2021

  • I’m so sorry for your loss. He will be missed greatly as he was a good husband, father and friend. Mike helped many people get on the right path of life. He was such a good friend to me when I was so sick always visiting me in the hospital, making me laugh when I was depressed and he had so many stories to tell you. He loved his music as we would go downstairs and play music so loud it would drive Florence crazy. I could go on and on but won’t as he was such a wonderful man. Love you Mike and you will be missed. - Posted by: Sloan Verne (Friend ) on: Mar 19, 2021
