My one reservation about this contact is that it might awaken the sadness that you suffered with the loss of Dr. DAVID R.H. BIRD - so I'll understand if no response. Our family lived at 57 Vicarage Road Mickleover when the Bird family lived at 63 vicarage Road and i too was born in 1939 so as you may guess, David and I were little playmates. I also was educated at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Ashbourne. I was always in touch with David's parents, truly lovely people, and though I lost touch with David, I knew from them that David had gone to Winnipeg. It wasn't until last evening that I began to think of old friends (I'm 86). Fortunately David was the only child among us who had three Christian names and I always remembered "David Robert Howard Bird" - otherwise I would never have known of the tragedy of your loss. I looked him up on google and am truly devastated to know how things turned out. But, delighted to read from the lovely tributes that David had had a life filled with love and that his wonderful qualities both professional and personal have been truly recognized and recorded. I send my regards to all and am sorry this tribute is so late. Margaret Watson nee Swindell. - Posted by: MARGARET WATSON nee Swindell (Childhood friend) on: Dec 05, 2025
