Sadly, Bernice passed away at St. Boniface Hospital, Thursday, February 11, 2021.
She is predeceased by her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Nick Bembenek, and by her much-loved dog Brandy.
Bernice's love of travel took her to Hawaii and to Europe. Her summers were spent relaxing at her cottage, and at home caring for her garden.
She will be greatly missed by her lifelong friend Olga Shastal, and daughters, Trude and Charlotte, and by Karen Peterson-Tan.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no formal service.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • We met Bernice when we were so fortunate to purchase her cottage in 2006. My husband and I were so very lucky to be driving by the moment the For Sale sign went in the ground. Within 3 hours the offer was made, taken to her in the city and returned to us signed and accepted. We knew by looking at the cottage that it had been loved very dearly. To this day we do not take for granted the hard work and care that was invested into her cottage and we continue that legacy. Bernice was a spit fire and I remember her saying “ you take care of this place or I’ll be coming back here”... lol We did make a few changes and were happy to be able to show her a few years ago. She was very pleased and said the cottage deserved the changes. Although we never knew her personally, we often ask ourselves what would Bernice think. Our sincere condolences to her family and friends. Sincerely, Ed and Faye Marcynuk - Posted by: Ed and Faye Marcynuk (Friend) on: May 07, 2021

  • The Badger clan lived next door to Bernice for many years and we thank her for being such a great neighbour! She was a hard worker and great to her parents. We remember her mom walking down the lane chatting with all the neighbours! Veronica and family - Posted by: Badger family (Spruce sands neighbours ) on: Feb 24, 2021

  • I knew Bernice and her sister and brother-in-law very well. The three of them were wonderful people and always had a very kind word to say. They were very friendly and warm. A pleasure to know. May God grant them Eternal Rest. - Posted by: judy winget (friend) on: Feb 20, 2021
