ROSS CLUNIE MCQUIGGIN
April 20, 1945 - February 23, 2021

After a long stay in hospital, Ross returned home on February 17 with palliative care support as per his wishes. Ross spent the next couple of days eating from his favourite local restaurants, and spending time with his loved ones. On the morning of February 23, 2021, surrounded by his family, he went onto his next adventure.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 46 years, Frances, whom he affectionately called Bozzette; his beloved son Andrew, whom he affectionately called Zoid; Andrew's wife Sandra, who he loved like a daughter; brother-in-law George Arcioni; niece Joelle, who Ross loved so dearly; Joelle's husband Andy and their sons, Jacob and Hudson; nephews, Justin and Joshua (Allison); cousin Lily; godson Colin McCheyne (Jen and son Hank); his second "son" Bruce (Jess); his good friend Joe Paquet and cat Bill. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law Giuliana, father-in-law Andrea, and sister-in-law Tanya.
Ross was a man of many talents and worked in so many diverse jobs; from baker, radio broadcaster, retail manager, shoe repair and custom shoemaker, doorman, just to name a few. He seemed to be able to adapt to any situation. He loved playing golf, and was often found on a golf course in the early mornings during the season, but unfortunately when his health began to decline, he wasn't able to play anymore.
He loved the blues and spent much time going to the Windsor or Times Change. Ross and Frances were Blue Bomber season ticket holders since 1976, and rarely missed a game. He was thrilled that they finally brought home the Grey Cup after a long drought.
Another big love was cooking. He could make anything, and the family always looked forward to his seven course Christmas dinners! He loved going to the sandwich shop on Graham, and especially to Garwood Grill where he felt like he was among family.
Ross said that his greatest achievement in life was marrying Frances and being a father to Andrew. He loved them both so much and beamed with pride whenever he spoke about them.
Life will be much different without his storytelling, but we will never forget him.
The family is forever thankful to Dr. Lamba (Health Sciences Centre), Ross' favourite doctor, who cared for Ross the last five years. As well, to all of the staff at Health Sciences Centre who cared for Ross during his hospital stays. He always received superior care and attention. A big thank you to Dr. Biala, the nephrology team, and the staff at Seven Oaks 5th floor, unit 7, especially Kelly, the Case Coordinator who planned his discharge home. The Palliative Care team were an integral part of Ross' final journey, and we send our utmost gratitude to: nurses Lisa, Joanne, Jennifer, Andre, Ogechi and Erin who supported the family with care and compassion. Finally, the family would like to thank the homecare workers who looked after Ross his last few days, including Raoul (loved the jokes) and Terry who saw him in his final hours and provided tender, loving care.
Cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal gathering at this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to an animal rescue or shelter of your choice in Ross's name, and that the next time you order from a local restaurant, have a meal in his honour.

"Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt"
