Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • In God’s family AnaMercedes Contreras Duarte was our dear sister. She faithfully attended 2 churches: “Portage Av. M.B.” and the Spanish church led by brother Ernesto Pinto. She blessed me in Pinto’s church in Winnipeg in 2002 by her generosity giving winter clothes since I was a missionary in Guatemala. Her sister in Esquintla, Guatemala, Armida (& husband Carlos) hosted her. We enjoyed Christian fellowship in the “Roca Salvación “ church. Ana is remembered for her generosity. Frequently she invited people for a meal. She graduated from “Qumram”(?) Bible institute & used her vast spiritual knowledge to serve Christ. • Ana was a member of Portage Ave Church for many years. She was a private person but always friendly and warm. I, Anni, got to know her better since we shared the Spanish language. We loved to chat in Spanish on Sundays about our families and she spoke always so highly of her children which she loved dearly. May the precious memories of your loved one be a comfort to you now. She will be missed by many of our church members. • Our most sincere condolences to the Garcia Contreras family on the departure of their mother Ana. She is Mother of our friend Ivan, and his sibblings Alex, Marisol and Beatriz. We met Ana in the city of Winnipeg, she came with her four children from El Salvador, years later her children prospered and made a large family. Added to the blood familytheir her extended spiritual family in the church she attended. The trust we have in God makes us aspire to the future life that God promises and to see each other again. Rest in peace Ana. - Posted by: Infantes family (friends) on: Mar 02, 2021

  • Anna and I became friends through our interest in writing.(2003) We attended a workshop at University of Winnipeg together. She wrote the story of her daughter's walking miracle and told it to the church through interpreter Herta Voth with whom she had Bible Studies. For a long time we always sat together in church and she gave me a Spanish hug and kiss every time we met. In the last four or five years she got to know a few more people and was trying to improve her conversational English. Anni Duerksen tried to help her with English. Charlotte Liebig picked her up to go to church faithfully until Covid-19 interrupted. - Posted by: Shirley (Penner) Bergen (friend from Portage Ave. Church) on: Feb 28, 2021

  • Such a life story - such a legacy to her family! We mourn with you all. - Posted by: Val & Erwin Warkentin (Friends) on: Feb 27, 2021
