Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELEANOR JOYCE SYMCHYCH
(nee CHERNESKI)
On Friday, February 12, 2021, Eleanor Symchych, age 88 years, peacefully passed away at her home in Winnipeg.
Eleanor was predeceased by her loving husband Ivan and son Michael in 1973, sister Elsie Helen Borsa in 2016, and parents, John and Annie Cherneski.
Eleanor will be missed by her loving family throughout North America, particularly by her sons, Alex (wife Natashia and their twins, Colby and Darian), and Patryk (wife Ivy and their twins, Ava and Elliott) and eight surviving siblings: Irene Stevenson, Eugene (Marie) Cherneski, Don (Shirley) Cherneski, Leonard (Sylvia) Cherneski, Marlene Muldoon, Joanne (Mike) Mulholland, Janet (Bob) Yaworski, and Edward (Kathy) Cherneski.
Eleanor was born in Goodeve, Saskatchewan and eventually made her way to Winnipeg where she met her husband Ivan where they started their family. Throughout the years, Eleanor was able to adapt to her changing environment by continually reinventing herself in ways that took great courage and strength, ultimately she was very successful in each undertaking and is a role model for all that know her. What she loved the most was being with her family, close friends (in particular, Sam Dolhun) and being a part of the community through her work (Manitoba Lotteries kiosks, property management and teacher at Seven Oaks School Division). In her later years, she was cared for by her family in her home where she lived for over 55 years.
We will miss you very much
Mom, Grandmother, Sister, Auntie.
A private family service will be held on Tuesday, March 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Livestreaming will be available on the Cropo website.

I offer condolences to the families of Alex and Patryk, to former students Darian and Colby and to all extended family. Eleanor was a favourite sub in the English Ukrainian Bilingual Program while she was working. She was always positive and enthusiastic and took on any challenge. Wishing you the peace that good memories bring! Vichnaya pamyat! - Posted by: Diana Borys (friend) on: Jun 11, 2021

My sincerest condolences to Ed, Alex and Patryk on the loss of a wonderful sister and Мама. Eleanor was a lovely, caring lady of great strength and a wide smile; a good sister and a great Mother. May she now catch up on the years she missed with her husband and little Michael. Царство їй небесне. Нехай земля буде її пухом. Вічна пам'ять. I feel your heartache and extend my sincerest sympathy to the family, especially Alex and Patryk and their families, and my former students, Colby and Darian. I ask God to remember you all during this difficult time and to grant your dear Mom and Baba eternal life in His Heavenly Home. Your mother was always so thoughtful and generous. Every time she came to our school, she would bring treats, and everywhere I saw her, she was happy and so engaging to talk with. May fond memories give you comfort. Remember fondly working days at Empire Drugs, parties at Ivan and Eleanors with my wife Bet and many Friends in Winnipeg. Eleanor was a classy hostess, always kept in touch with us. Our last visit was many years ago when Ivan sadly passed away with Michael in France. You are at peace now Eleanor after a life well lived. Condolences to family.
