Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • She asked to french braid my hair once when I visited. She was gentle and always kind to me. Sweet memory.. love and blessings to all my cousins. - Posted by: hazel boss (she was a loving and kind aunt) on: Dec 10, 2021

  • I liked your mother so much. When Verna sang in the Druzhba Choir, which I conducted, at the Ukrainian Labour Temple, we'd chat during coffee breaks. I thought of her as a buddy. We had good conversations; she had a dry wit, which I liked. She loved singing Ukrainian songs - lyrical and sad ones, but also uptempo, humourous ones. Her face would light up; it was fun to watch her expressions. I'll miss her. - Posted by: Tusia Kozub (friend) on: Apr 11, 2021

  • Our condolences to the family, Kim, Terry and Ron. The Family moved next door to our family over 40 years ago. Verna was always baking goodies. One day she came over with some ginger snaps. The kids really loved them. So I got the recipe and made a batch but they were too light. So I ran over and complained. Well, it turned out she had burned them - we laughed. Verna bought a chandelier for the dining room but when her father came over, he said there wasn't a word in Ukrainian for a chandelier, so he called it a Sputnik. Very funny. - Posted by: Don & Genivieve Ochocki (o former neighbours) on: Mar 30, 2021
