RICHARD WAYNE BRASHER
He was predeceased by his father Richard Senior and his mother Marie. Richard is survived by his daughter Tara (Chris); son Jason; sister Susan (Martin); and his nieces, Madi and Emma. Richard will be deeply missed by his number-one grandson Spencer (Darielle).
Like his father, Richard worked his entire career at Canadian National Railway. He made lifelong friends there and through his involvement with the Manitoba Street Rod Association. The family would also like to acknowledge best friends, Larry and Marilyn Stubbe; dear neighbours, Chris and Lloyd Smith, Kathy Holst, Dave and Roxanne Hislop for their endless care and concern. Dad loved all of his extended family and especially appreciated the knowledge and humour of his niece Colette.
In his retirement Richard enjoyed golfing, working on many projects, playing drums in various bands and spending time with his family.
A private cremation has taken place and due to COVID-19 restrictions a Celebration of Life will occur at a later time. In the meantime, Richard's family kindly requests that his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by visiting his tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com. Photos, as well as memories and stories published by those who knew him, are available there.
The family also wishes to thank Richard's doctors, nurses, hospital staff, Manitoba Home Care staff, and everyone at CancerCare Manitoba for their dedicated work.
In lieu of flowers, Richard asked that donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
Dad's last wish was to tell all friends and family, "See you soon. Hugs and Kisses".

I met Dick about 15, or 20 years ago, through our common membership in the MSRA. He and Tom Milne would get together at the Rodarama Car Show and "man" the sound system. They'd play some tunes and make general announcements. I hung out with them at that time, and the three of us had a good time "up in the stands". Spencer was in the area as well, observing. Anyway, Dick and I would have great conversations that were filled with laughs, serious observations, and yes, even sarcasm. We got along great, and he was my friend. I knew I was Dick's friend, because if I wasn't, he woulda' told me so.... I'm gonna' miss that guy. - Posted by: Rob Rose (friend) on: May 23, 2021

My sympathies to the Brasher family. I was one of his golfing buddies. He was always fun too be around with comical comments on any subject we all talked about, very easy going. He definitely will be missed. - Posted by: Barry Fitzsimmons (Friend) on: May 07, 2021

Dear Tara and Jason, our hearts were deeply saddened on hearing of the passing of your Dad. I met Dick way back in the 70's when I emigrated to Canada and started to work at CN Transcona Shops. Within a few years we were both set up as supervisors at Transcona Shops on the afternoon shift. Dick and I became really good friends. As time went on we both went different ways in our CN careers. Glad to say later in life we came together again when Dick approached me to come and work for him in a management training initiative. Dick was a great mentor and friend to me during this time. As time went on we separated again, but I am glad to say that we met again a few years ago when Dick and friend Larry joined Transcona Golf Club. I was so happy to have played 3 times a week with Dick, at least for a few years of his life. He spoke about both of you often and his beloved grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by many. Our condolences and thoughts are with you both and all the family. Grant & Betty Rodgers - Posted by: Grant RODGERS (Friend) on: Apr 22, 2021

So sorry to hear of your Dadās passing. We attended Laurier school and I was always impressed with his vast vocabulary. My Mom would give us blunt cheek length haircuts(she was our hairdresser) and Richard noticing that I had a fresh cut commented on how straight a cut it was. He asked who cut your hair to which I replied āmy Momā. He looked again and said itās so straight! What does she use? A bowl? š I didnāt know if I should take it as a compliment on my Momās skill or not! That was Richard. Iām sure you will miss him immensely. Heartfelt sympathies to you and your family. - Posted by: Gisele L'Heureux (School friend) on: Apr 17, 2021

It must have been an emotional and extremely difficult time for you Jason and Tara to see your dad so sick and trying to comfort him during this illness. I went through the same experience myself with my father. Finally, you feel relief for him when his suffering ends. You did all you could for him, and he would feel grateful, whether he should it or not. Take care. - Posted by: Denis Letain (Friend) on: Apr 17, 2021
