VERNA GERTRUDE PERRY
1934 - 2021

Verna is survived by her son Mark Perry and his sons, her daughter Sandra Baldwin (Kerry) and their daughters. They were always the pride and joy of her life.
Over the years, Verna worked hard on her career but was proudest of her time working on behalf of women who were victims of Domestic Violence and at Victim Services with the Winnipeg Police Service. Always, she was a volunteer and many organizations benefitted.
There will be no service.
If you wish, a donation made in her name to Winnipeg Harvest (now known as Harvest Manitoba) would be much appreciated.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Verna was a friend to me when my husband and I lived on the same floor as she did. When we would travel she would gather our mail, look after our apartment. It was such a joy to visit with her. I know she will be sorely missed by her family and friends - Posted by: Eileen Squires (Friend) on: May 31, 2021

  • Dear Mark & Sandra I learned of Verna's passing from David. My deepest condolences to you & your families on the profound loss of your beloved mother. Having now lost both our parents, we certainly know the heartache. I hope that your many cherished memories will sustain you at this sad time. Warmly, Barb (Perry) Marshall - Posted by: Barbara Marshall (Relative) on: May 24, 2021

  • I unfortunately did not have the opportunity to work with Verna; though through the years, I have heard many stories of her being a greatly valued, long-time volunteer with Victim Services. It takes a special person with a true volunteer spirit to dedicate themselves to a greater good, as she did. The Winnipeg Police send our deepest sympathies, and our gratitude for the gifts she shared with us, and with the world. - Posted by: Marla Lewis (Volunteer Coordinator, Winnipeg Police Victim Services) on: May 10, 2021

  • Dear beloved family of Verna, I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of dear Verna. We worked together for many years at Victim Services. Verna was smart, classy and brilliant at the support and resources she provided to victims of crime. Always caring, compassionate, and straightforward so that people were able to understand what they were able to do to help themselves move forward. All was well when Verna was on duty. We were always able to fit in some time for a laugh or to hear a story about her wonderful kids and grandkids. In the years since she retired from VSU, we kept in touch with notes and cards. In sharing this sad news with past volunteers everyone said, and I wholeheartedly agreed, “I loved Verna.” I will miss her. Thinking of you as you honour Verna’s cherished life. I’m so sorry for your loss. Love and Peace to you all. - Posted by: Yvonne Pregely Sarzynski (Friend and colleague ) on: May 10, 2021

  • Mark, Sandra and families- we were so very sad to see your mom’s obituary today. It brought back many happy memories, especially of camping trips many years ago. Our thoughts are with you, especially on this first Mother’s Day without her. Sending love to you all. - Posted by: Ian and Sharon Milne (Friendd) on: May 08, 2021
