ASHLEY ANN GOODWIN

We are saddened to announce that on May 30, 2021, our beautiful daughter Ashley Ann Goodwin, age 26, of Winnipeg, MB unexpectedly passed away from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Ashley was born on December 23, 1994 to Peter and Kelly Goodwin in Winnipeg, MB.
Ashley was a smart, beautiful girl with a caring heart, a sense of humour second to none, a sharp wit, and a smile and infectious laugh that made people take notice. She lived her life in the moment, and whatever she did was always done to the fullest.
Ashley was a gifted athlete that excelled in many sports, but her love was volleyball. She was an intense teammate and played with extreme passion. She had an ability to inspire both on and off the court and was driven to win - to her, winning was the ultimate (and only acceptable) result. Although she played on many different teams during her years, she was most proud of her accomplishments in her two years at Red River College. After not touching a volleyball after high school for five years, she decided to play again. With hard work and determination, she not only made the team, but was awarded with MCAC's Most Valuable Player both years and led the team to their first MCAC championship.
Ashley had a very large circle of friends and gave herself to them without thought. She was always there to listen, and she always did whatever she could to make them happy. She valued every one of her friendships, whether they be from school, sports, work, or just random people she met throughout her life.
After graduation, Ashley spent her working time as a server until she enrolled at Red River College and received her outdoor power equipment certificate. She continued within the hospitality sector until she found her perfect job working as a 'farm hand' at Halarda Farms in Elm Creek taking care of calves. She loved the hard work, and spending the days with her "calf babies" brought her great joy.
Ashley is survived by her parents, Peter and Kelly; brother Christian (Amanda McKendry); grandparents, Charolette Wynn and Dave Anton; her aunts and uncles, Deborah Maytchak (Wynn), Susan Goodwin, Glen McBurnie, Ian Goodwin, Pattie Horadam, Carolyn Richert (Goodwin) and Harold Richert; her cousins, Scott and Kevin McBurnie, Darcy Richert, Laura Goodwin, and Devyn, Tierney and Aidan Maytchak.
We wish to thank Stars Air Ambulance and all the doctors and nurses at Health Sciences Centre for the care they gave Ashley and for their support to the family. We also wish to thank all of Ashley's friends and family members for your heart felt calls, texts and messages - every one of you contributed something different to Ashley's life which only enriched it further. And thank you to Halarda Farms for taking a chance on some "city girl" who showed up at your door with fake nails and her hair and make-up all done and giving her the job she always wanted.

We will miss Ashley terribly - she
has left a hole that can never be filled.
We take great comfort in knowing that
Ashley touched so many lives.

In lieu of flowers, and due to her love of animals, we ask if you choose to donate, to please donate to Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue in memoriam of Ashley Goodwin.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • My friend Harry across the street from Ashley’s family just found out about her untimely death and texted me. I moved from 124 Hazel Dell a year ago to care for my aging parents in the East Coast. I am so so sorry for your loss, read Ashley’s obit and am so impressed by her short life that was so impactful- to the people, pets and animals she cared for and loved. May you find comfort in that. Blessings and condolences, Nancy Constantine - Posted by: Nancy Constantine (Former neighbor ) on: Oct 05, 2021

  • I found it incredibly difficult to put into words the amazing and lasting impact knowing Ashley had on my life. I hold our memories from sleepovers, carpools and soccer very close to my heart. Ashley was one of the kindest people I knew and I will miss the smile and hugs I got from her whenever we crossed paths at the grocery store or a gathering as we got older. My deepest thoughts and condolences go to her family and friends. The world has lost a truly remarkable person and I am sending love and healing to all touched by this tragedy. - Posted by: Shandra Ready (Childhood friend) on: Jun 09, 2021
