SHEILA ISABELLE BRADLEY
(nee HUTTON)
1934 - 2021

Sheila passed away peacefully on May 30, 2021, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was 86 years old.
She was born in Winnipeg, raised in the North End and attended Luxton School and St. John's Collegiate. Sheila excelled academically and at sports, especially volleyball. She really enjoyed summers spent with her Yerex cousins out at her grandparents' farm in Franklin (near Neepawa). After graduating, she went on to work at CP Rail, at the Manitoba Legislature as a stenographer, at RCMP D Division and retired from the RCMP Crime Lab.
Her children were the brightest spots in her life. She is survived by Shawna Rudd (Jim); Janice Bartecki (Victor) and their two daughters, Brittney (Ray) and Caitlyn; and Jamie Bradley (Brenda) and their daughter Taylor, and son Carter. She is also survived by her two brothers, Bill Hutton and David Hutton, their families, and many other friends and relatives.
Special hugs to Doreen Amos (lifelong friend), Sylvia Warrington (neighbour of 60 years) and her children, niece Elaine Hutton and cousins, Carol Carson and Brenda Barbour.
Sheila loved being a grandma and took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren, watching them grow into strong, educated, happy young adults. She was so proud of all of them.
She enjoyed reading the newspaper, doing crosswords, going to the casino with Shawna, bridge, bowling, British shows, game shows, the odd rum and coke or Caesar, crib games with Sylvia and reminiscing with Doreen (always full of laughter).
The last 17 months were spent at Jocelyn House Hospice. Being a small facility, we all got to know the staff well and greatly appreciated all that they were able to do for Mom. Thank you so much.
As per pandemic restrictions, we will not gather to say good-bye. Please remember Mom the next time you see a deer or a butterfly and know she is now at peace.
Donations can be made to Jocelyn House Hospice or CancerCare Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I started in the RCMP lab as a summer student in 1982 and I learned right away that if I had any questions about administration I should check with Sheila first. If there was a bunch of frustrating paperwork, she would look after it. In over 30 years of service I never met anyone who was so adept. I also enjoyed the times we would head out to a nearby restaurant for morning coffee. Condolences to the family. Thanks for all your help Sheila. - Posted by: Tod Christianson (Co-worker from the RCMP Lab) on: Jul 26, 2021

  • Shawna, Janice and Jamie....I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I wish you and your families peace at this difficult time. Eventually, I hope we'll all resume our massive family gatherings once again in a better place! Those were happy days! Take care of each other. Love, Allison - Posted by: Allison (Macready) Klassen (Cousin) on: Jun 14, 2021

  • Our deepest condolences to Janis, Victor, Brittany and Caitlin on you loss of you mom and a grandma. Condolences also to Shauna, Jim and Jamie, Brenda. We have been neighbors to Janis and Victor for close to 30 years. We also got to know Shiela when joining some family celebrations. We knew Shiela as a friendly and kind person. Sheila will be missed by her family for sure and many friends. Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Andy & Lori Chartrand (Friends of the family ) on: Jun 06, 2021

  • Aunt Sheila was one of my favorites. Gatherings with her and the family were alot of fun. Rest in peace and if you ever happen to see Sean, send my love.❤ - Posted by: Heather Barbour (Cousin) on: Jun 05, 2021

  • My deepest sympathies to the family. Mrs Bradley was like a second mother to me in my teens up to my forties! She was a great lady and I’m sure she will be surely missed by everyone. RIP Sheila. (Mrs Bradley) - Posted by: Brian Trapp (Friend) on: Jun 05, 2021

  • I was sorry to see this notice of Sheila’s death, and it took me to recalling hearing my Aunt Laura (“Lulu” to me) speak of her enjoyment of the doings of the Bradley family. If I recall correctly, Sheila’s mother was Nan, Bob’s sister, and as little girls my sister, Jocelyn and I enjoyed hearing of the goings-on among the ‘other side’ of Laura’s family. She was proud of Sheila and her family. In an article about Jocelyn House, I saw a photo where Sheila was identified as a resident, and I was pleased to think she was living in such a welcoming home. It’s a hard time to be dealing with things like this, but love always sees us through. All the best, Iris - Posted by: Iris Gold Rountree (Niece of Bob and Laura Hutton) on: Jun 05, 2021

  • Our Condolences, Shawna, Janis and Jamie. Sadden to read of your Mom's passing. Remembering the days we spent at Bissett and the wonderful fish fries at Wallace. And of course, the cookie bowl at your Cabin. Great memories. I remember your Mom as just a classy lady.
