LILY PEDERSEN
November 11, 1935 - June 13, 2021
She will be lovingly and forever remembered by her husband of 66 years, Harold; daughters, Bodil (Greg) and Annette (Greg); grandchildren, Tyler, Megan (Jay), Brandon (Rowan) and Colin (Taylor); brothers, Christian (Margit), Jorn (Grethe) and Johannes (Edna); sister-in-law Alice; as well as many nieces, nephews and family members in Denmark. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Marie and Soren, and siblings, Carlo, Stinne and Svendage.
Lily was born in Denmark in 1935. She met her forever love Harold, they were married in 1955. In 1957 they decided to pack up the family and move to Canada. They settled in Winnipeg and became part of the Winnipeg Danish community where they made treasured friends that became part of their extended family.
Mom loved and cherished her family and was fiercely proud of them all. Mormor enjoyed spending time and spoiling her grandchildren with her many delicious Danish dishes. As we all know Lily was an amazing cook, you would never leave her place hungry and there was always a pot of coffee ready for friends and neighbours.
Lily enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. This led her to find her passion, Contract Bridge. She was a competitive player and achieved her Lifetime Grand Master. She played with wonderful partners that became good friends. She was always willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn how to play. Lily and Harold enjoyed travelling to Denmark to visit with family and had many fond memories of their trips back home. They also spent many winters in Texas and Arizona where they made many friends.
Mormor we love you and we can still
hear you say "I love you more."
Respecting Mom's wishes cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

My deepest sympathy to you, Annette, Bodil and families, Your Mom was such a shining light! I remember her fondly! During my junior high years as a close friend to Annette, your home became my second home and your Mom welcomed me in with open arms. She was kind, caring and generous. I was invited to be part of family vacations at Falcon Lake and holiday celebrations throughout the year. It was a wonderful experience for me to be made to feel like part of your family. I was introduced to family traditions and flavourful foods that will always remain my favourite memories from that time in my life! You were blessed with wonderful parents and I am grateful I could be part of that family life back then. Blessings of peace to you all. Condolences to the family. Treasure the memories! Yes, Lily was a great cook. In the early 60's, I went to their house to babysit Bodil. Lily made mashed potatoes with a white sauce, maybe with fried onions include. Made with cream! Absolutely delicious and I have never forgotten this taste. I do believe Bodil bit my big toe. She must have been crawling on the floor! Did we also have outings at Sunset Beach!! - Posted by: Marg (Markmann) Hiebert (daughter of Knud and Inge Markmann) on: Jun 19, 2021
