Shirlee was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister.
Surviving Shirlee are her sons, Garfield Benjamin (Garry) Upshaw, and Fredrick Roland (Rickie) Upshaw both of Toronto, ON, grandchildren, Jazzy, Zack, Chantel, Cheyanne, Janaya and Garrick; great-grandchildren, Jessie, Landon, Xzeveria and Chasidy; siblings, Louise Winn, and Gerri Sylvia of Winnipeg, MB, Judith Rainey of Kansas City and Terry Lane of Winnipeg, MB.
Predeceased by husband Donald Benjamin Upshaw, her parents Jessie and Clayton Lane, sisters, Margret, Nita, Thelma, Jackie, and Maybeth, brothers, Dwight, Eugene, Bucky, and Clayton.
Shirlee was the first black girl to run for Miss Manitoba in 1953. Shirlee was QUEEN to her great-nieces, Precious and Elyshia and nephews Joel and Lea. Bud Bud to her great- great-nieces, Mayla, Lannie, Talia and Jewels.
Shirlee touched many young people's lives and made a difference. She was truly loved and will be greatly missed by all her nieces and nephews, family and friends.
