WENDY DAWN CROCKER
(née DUGUAY)
October 25, 1959 - June 22, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend on June 22, 2021 at the age of 61.
Wendy is survived by husband and love of her life Fred; children, James, Anita (Stefan), and Samantha (Angie); grandchildren, Miranda, Carter, Mason, Fletcher and Adalyn; siblings, Evan (Belinda), Shelley (Dave), and Kenneth; stepbrother Rick; as well as foster brothers, Shawn (Charlene), Lee (Crystal), Marcel and Coulton. She was predeceased by her mother Phyllis Rose; father Thomas; stepfather Jack; bother Rodney; and stepbrother Randy.
Mom was born in Winnipeg where she lived for most of her life. She started working at a young age, always proving her dedication and hard work which got her promoted to some supervisor or management level roles. In 1993 she started working for Defehr furniture and stayed there for about 16 years. Most recently working at the Health Sciences Centre (HSC) for the last 12 years.
In 2013 Mom married the love of her life and awesome stepdad Fred. He spoiled her with love and cooked and took care of the house while Mom was at work and cared for her during her illness. Thank you, Fred, for all you have done. We are all lucky Mom found you.
Some of Mom's hobbies and interests were Kinsmen bingo, crafts, baking, beach days, campfires, country music, spa days at The Forks Inn, mani/pedis, shoes and having visits with friends. The one thing Mom loved the most was her grandchildren. She was a proud nana. She loved spoiling the grandkids with gifts or treats, having Miranda and Mason for sleepovers or travelling to Victoria to see Carter, Fletcher and Adalyn.
Mom had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. Supporting charities, fundraisers, and friend's events to help the cause. She was once recognized in the local paper for helping organize a healthy meal for children in need. She was always there to support family and friends when they were sick or in need. She was with her mother Phyllis almost every day while she was in hospital for eight months but that was Mom; she was always there.
The family would like to thank all of her coworkers at HSC for their support and friendship. All the staff at HSC and CancerCare for the amazing care they provided Mom during her illness. A special thank you to Joanne for being there for Mom. You always made the effort to stay in touch and visit Mom, giving her rides and just being there for her to talk to. Also, a thank you to Becky for taking Mom out for a spa day and bringing her treats when she had cravings.
To my siblings, thank you Sam for being there when Mom needed you. Helping her with daily tasks and errands. Thank you, Anita, for taking time away from your family to stay with Mom for months at a time, to help her through her diagnosis and treatments. Mom was so very proud of us all.
Lastly, I speak on behalf of Mom to let her sister Shelley know that Mom will always be the better looking sister.
As per Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will not be a service. The family kindly requests that all of mom's friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by visiting her tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com. A photo-biography, as well as stories and memories, published by those who knew her, are available there.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to CancerCare Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I meet Wendy through one of my Best friends Valarie, and we hit it off. We were friends for 17 years. Sometimes we would go out for lunch at one of her favorite restaurant Subway. We also love to meet in Transcona at the Thrift store and she would look for clothes for her Grandchildren. My oldest Daughter Alia was a hairdresser and would cut Wendy's Hair and she loved all the different styles of cuts she would give her. She made Wendy feel young all the time. My youngest Daughter Faith would always give Wendy clothes to give to her Granddaughter Miranda. Which Wendy said she loved all the clothes. Then when my dear friend got the bad news she was sick, I told her she can fight this and I told her I was in it for the long haul. And whenever she needed me I'll be there for her. Well she fought until her final breath. So God needed you in Heaven that day, and I know he didn't want you to suffer anymore. So I lost my Best friend to God, but you will forever be in my Heart forever Wendy. Till we meet again. R.I.P. my dear friend. 😪😪💖💖🙏🙏😇😇. - Posted by: Joanne Poitras (Friend) on: Jun 27, 2021
