MARK ANTHONY MARTZ
August 18, 1962 - June 16, 2021

With great sadness, our family announces the sudden passing of our beloved brother, uncle, great-uncle, and friend Mark Anthony Martz on June 16, 2021 at the age of 58.
Mark is lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his brother Carl, sister Barbara Foster, niece Lisa Meyer (Bryan), great-nephews, Darien and Aidan Meyer, numerous cousins in North America and in Germany, and many lifelong friends.
Mark was predeceased by both his parents, Eugene and Hermina Martz.
After graduating from St. John's High School Mark began his career at Canada Revenue Agency at the age of 18. Through hard work and careful planning Mark was able to retire from CRA after 31 years of service at the age of 49, allowing him to enjoy nine years of retirement before his passing.
Mark was one of a kind. He was an honest man who saw the value in everything and appreciated the little things in life. For Mark, family was most important and his love for his family was evident.
Mark took great care of his mother before her passing, taking her wherever she needed to go; from grocery shopping to doctor appointments or just to visit friends. Mark was a wonderful son. He was always there to lend a helping hand to his siblings, niece, family, and friends.
Mark was very proud of his great-nephews, Darien and Aidan, and loved to cheer them on at all their sporting events, especially hockey.
We know Mark is now with his parents, Hermina and Eugene, and is loved here on earth as well as in heaven.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in Mark's memory.
A celebration of Mark's life will be held at a later date when we can all gather.

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • Mark was my friend for over 45 years, I was shocked to hear of his passing as I had just talked to him the day before. As we grew older we did not get together as often as when we were younger but we still talked together on the phone every week. I could not have asked for a better friend. Thank you Mark for the time we had together, you may have passed but will live on forever in my memory, I will never forget you and the friendship we had over the years, my deepest condolences to your family. • I sat by Mark for several years at CRA. I really enjoyed his friendship and have often thought about him. He was such a nice person. And he was funny too. I thought he was crazy to retire early but I’m sure glad he got to enjoy some retirement years before his passing. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends. - Posted by: Linda Hermanson (Work Friend ) on: Jun 28, 2021

  • The work place was a better place because Mark was there. He was smart and quiet, yet had a sly sense of humour that many of us appreciated. I remember when we had the beard growing contest; being a good sport Mark entered. He won last place and I serenaded him with a poem and a prize, it was so funny. Be at peace my friend. - Posted by: Darlene Wall (coworker ) on: Jun 26, 2021
