JOSEPH CARMA MASOTTI
July 3, 1935 - June 21,2021

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of a truly loving and amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Leonardo and Anne Masotti. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife Pam; daughter Sherrie (Drew Larsen); sons, Joel (Reuben Jimenez) and Mark (Monica) Masotti; grandchildren, Elaine Larsen (Michael Wells), Kyle Larsen (Yeny Candelario Cruz), Vivienne, and Aida Masotti; great-grandchildren, Andrius and Bryan; brother Anthony (Jane) Masotti; sister Maria Mackett; father-in-law Grant Burrows; sister-in-law Brenda (Bob) Allan; brother-in-law David (Judy) Burrows; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joe was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and later moved to Thunder Bay, Ontario to work in the family restaurant, Cortina Pizza. Joe left the family business to pursue a career in the food service industry where he spent approximately 45 years. Joe and Pam relocated many times, including Winnipeg, Saskatoon, back to Thunder Bay and finally settling in Winnipeg where Joe spent 15 years with De Luca's who quickly became family. Joe loved all his customers and they loved him. When Joe would stop by for his weekly customer visits, they would drop whatever they were doing to sit down and share a cup of coffee with him. Joe had this incredible ability to make whoever he was speaking with feel as though they were the only person in the room. He was dedicated to his work and loved what he did. He will be missed dearly. Joe worked hard all his life, even at the age of 83 he worked part-time at Home Depot until he was unable due to illness. He had so many customers at Home Depot that would come up to him just to chat, he was that kind of a guy. In his spare time, he always had a project on the go, which usually involved building fences, decks or a shed. Joe was a perfectionist and would remind his helpers to always "measure twice, cut once".
Joe never gave up, he always had a positive attitude and could be heard saying "It's ok, everything will work out". Joe may be gone in body but his spirt, love for life and incredibly positive outlook will always live on. The world will forever be missing a little bit of Joe.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
Cremation has taken place and due to COVID restrictions a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In the meantime, Joseph's family kindly requests that his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by visiting his tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com. A photo-biography, as well as memories and stories published by those who knew him, are available there.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I am truly happy that I was able to meet you in my lifetime. Your charismatic personality and energy to live life to the fullest is so genuine that I hope to live my life the same way. I am very thankful that our sons became such good friends that blossomed into our friendship. Whether it was watching Tyler & Mark play hockey or bumping into you shopping at Sobeys ..you also had a big smile, kind works and would always say…”if you are talking to Tyler make sure you say Hi ! From Joe”. Thanks Joe …for always putting a big smile on my face after seeing you and thanks for being such a good friend to my son. You have made my world a better place having met you. • Missing my beloved brother. I’m thankful for all of the joys and laughter that we shared over the years. Joe, Pam, Jane and myself always enjoying each other’s company. Many heartwarming and fun filled times to remember especially as I close my eyes and think back as a young boy having my bedroom window open and hearing Joe’s cleats on the sidewalk as he approached our house. You were a blessing in my life and my family’s lives. Condolences to our precious sister-in-law Pam, Precious niece Sherrie and all of her family and precious nephews Joel and Mark and their precious families. God bless all of you and keep you in His tender loving care. Rest In Peace dear brother. Tony and Jane - Posted by: Tony Masotti (Brother ) on: Jul 01, 2021
