Our family and the Benwell family were quite close in our younger years as we were growing up. My dad, Ed King, and her dad, "Bennie" both worked at the Coca Cola and were good friends. My mom and Ruby Benwell remained so after the passing of their husbands. Saturday nights would be "party nights" and playing cards and eating onion sandwiches. Meanwhile, my sister June and I, along with Valerie, would amuse ourselves playing kid games. Valerie was slightly younger than my sister (just over a year), and I was June's older brother. It has been a long time since my wife Sharon and I saw Valerie; the last time was at her mom's funeral although we didn't speak. Please accept our condolences on her passing. - Posted by: Douglas King (Childhood Friend) on: Jul 13, 2021

My sincere condolences to Valerie's family on the loss of a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Valerie and her parents lived next door to us on St. Michael's Road in the late 50s and were the best of neighbours. Valerie was friends with many of the children living in the area and close to my sister Maureen. Sadly we have not seen each other since the late 70s. May she rest in peace, God Bless.
