WILLIAM JAMES SHOESMITH
1931 - 2021
It is with great sadness we announce that Jim passed away on July 27, 2021.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend, Sheila. He is also survived by his son Jason (Jen); estranged daughter Arlo; and granddaughters, Aurora and Willow. Also remembering him are his cousins, Gail, Shelagh, Margaret, and JoAnne, along with their families.
Jim was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the North End and Weston. He played many sports when he was young and took up curling and golf in retirement.
As a young man in his early 20s and working at a bank on Portage Avenue, he met Sheila, who worked across the street at another bank. After wooing her with his great sense of humour (she loved fun), she accepted his proposal and they married in 1954. When they started a family, they moved to St. Vital and remained living there.
We would like to acknowledge the exceptional care and compassion shown to both Jim and Sheila at the Deer Lodge Centre, fifth floor, East and West wards. Thank you to everyone.
As per Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service held.
