JOHN SOROKOWSKI
May 14, 1955 - August 7, 2021

Peacefully, with his loving children by his side, John's battle with cancer ended.
Left to mourn are his parents, Walter Sorokowski (Irene, Iris - deceased) and Verna Sorokowski-Rochon (Lou - deceased); children, Ivan, Katherine (Sid) and Barbra; grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Sarah and Victoria; siblings, Verna (Allan), Sonnie (Janice) and Fran (George - deceased); his niece Cheryl, whom he had a special bond with; along with stepsiblings, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends including his Aunt Trudy.
John was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was proud of his occupations at Hayes-Dayna as a shipper / receiver, the City of Winnipeg in the waste management department, GT Equipment as a chemical sprayer, IGA in Quebec, and a guest servicer at the Garrick Hotel. He took pride in his positions and enjoyed working with many co-workers. John was a longtime member of the Fort Garry Legion and a proud member of the Redboine Local. He very much enjoyed spending time with family, he would never miss an event. He loved being the armchair quarterback. He enjoyed waking up to a coffee and reading the newspaper. He played his card games, online games, bingo and completed his crossword puzzles with his mom.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

"Dear Uncle John, I love you to the sun
and back, yes the sun because it's
further than the moon and it shines.
You shine in my life" - Love Cheryl

"Dear Dad, we know you will be our
family's guardian angel, watching over
all of us from above. Rest well Daddy."
- Love Katherine and Ivan

  • Our family moved from MB when I was very young so I did not grow up with my cousin John. However, we reconnected years ago and I enjoyed being in his company whenever I was out east visiting the family. Our sincere sympathy to Auntie Verna and Uncle Walter, John’s siblings, children and other extended family members, at this very sad time. John will be missed but never forgotten. • I've known John for years from the time he lived in the rozel apartments playing football at Fort Rouge park and many times he had me over at his place he would let borrow the family car when I needed it. We offer our condolences to Walter and Verna and all of John's relatives in time of loss. Rest in peace - John Colleen and Garth Donaldson - Posted by: Garth Donaldson (Ex brother in law) on: Aug 14, 2021
