On Saturday, August 21, 2021, Blaine Leo Van Achte peacefully passed away in the arms of his loving wife and sons at the Health Science Center at the age of 61.

On September 19, 1992, he married the love of his life Sharon, who were happily married for 28 strong years.
Blaine (Parch) was involved in sports his whole life, from playing baseball, bowling, curling to golf and hockey. Once his two boys started to play sports he was actively involved with their teams as a coach, assistant, or a fan cheering them on from the sidelines.
Blaine is survived by his wife Sharon; sons, Gregory and Bradley; parents-in-law, Robert and Arleigh Pollitt; his brothers, Kelly (Annette) and Scott; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Lorne and Gail Van Achte; and his sister-in-law Kim Van Achte.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 472 Kirkfield Street at McBey Avenue. As per Blaine's wishes cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest at Bethel Cemetery near Treherne with his parents and grandparents.

  • I had worked with Blaine back in the Centra Gas days at 444 St Mary’s. There were many wonderful and hilarious Christmas parties spent together with a great group of centra folks. Blaine always made you laugh and at times his dry sense of humour made you think and then laugh. The last time I saw Blaine was at a retirement party in 2018 and we laughed and reminisced and his smile will always be forever remembered. My sincere condolences Sharon, to you and your boys. - Posted by: Jana and John Baron (Jana worked with Blaine way back when!) on: Aug 28, 2021
