JENNY (JUDY) SOBOVITCH
Judy was born October 8, 1922 on the family farm in Fosston, Saskatchewan to Erick and Brita Anderson. She was the second born of seven children and was the last remaining member of the family.
She was predeceased by parents, Erick and Brita Anderson; husband Alex in 1995; daughter Nancy in 2011 and son Barry in 2019. Also by sisters, Alva, Pearl and Eleanor and brothers, Allan, Roy and Lawrence and their spouses.
Survived by daughter Lois (Harold) Hnatiuk; daughter-in-law Judy and son-in-law Gordon Ott. Also survived by grandchildren, Joel (Johanna), Jocelyn (Jeff) Jordan and Jillian (Jonathan), Heather (Dan) and Darryl, James and David; great-grandchildren, Amy, Kayli, Jessie, Julie, Jamie, Jadee, Jonah, Jane, Patrick, Anna, Summer, Alyssa and Santana; and great-great-grandchild Dean.
Mom completed her schooling in Fosston, SK then moved to Winnipeg to go to business school. She moved to Central Patricia, ON where she met and married Alex in December 11, 1943. All three children were born there and in 1951 they moved to Garson, MB.
Mom was a stay-at-home mother but volunteered at Garson United Church, Garson school board, 4-H sewing club leader and Garson Community Club. In 1960, she went back to work for the MB Provincial Government, Department of Education and stayed there until she retired in 1980, as head of payroll.
Her family was everything to her and she never visited anywhere with empty hands. She was an excellent cook and baker and we were always happy to see her with her goodies. She also knitted and crocheted afghans for every member of the family.
Mom and Dad bought a cottage at Brereton Lake in 1978 and enjoyed lake life, fishing and gardening and happy hour with the neighbours. After her retirement, they bought a trailer and became winter Texans in Harlingen Texas. They both loved the warm weather, golfing and good friends. After Dad had some health issues they returned and started living in Winnipeg. Dad passed away in 1995 after 52 years of marriage. Mom remained in her apartment until 2017 when ill health necessitated her moving to the Kildonan Personal Care Home.
The family would like to extend a huge thank you to this facility for their excellent care and compassion to Mom in her four years there.
Cremation has taken place and no service will be held.

Lois, please accept my condolences on the passing of your Mother and extend my sympathy to all of your family. Judy was wonderful to work with and she was a great mentor to me during our payroll years together. Following my retirement, Judy and I had very memorable lunches together with other Education friends. We had great conversations and she was so proud of her children and grandchildren and always spoke highly of all your life accomplishments. I know you all have wonderful memories too. I am saddened to hear of the passing of Judy. My condolences to the family. Judy was a very good friend to my mother, Win Bradshaw, for many years and they talked to each other on the phone almost daily. My mom wasn't big on sharing the difficulties life threw her way but found in Judy someone she could safely confide in. I know Judy's steadfast friendship was something on which she could always count. I would often tag along when the ladies all got together for lunch so got to know that Judy was warm, intelligent, and always interesting to talk to. Judy was indeed a very special lady. - Posted by: Norma Bradshaw (Daughter of friend) on: Aug 29, 2021
