JAMES HOOPER
July 31, 1949 - September 23, 2021

With heavy hearts, we announce that Jim passed away on September 23, 2021, at his home.
Left to mourn his passing are his children, Kelly-Anne, Tricia Young (Dave), Andrew, and their mother Sharon Coates; his sisters, Frances Ross, Joyce Hooper, and Mary Kathleen Johnston, his niece, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, who always looked forward to our Christmas dinner, and night of Trivia. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Jimmy Hooper; brother-in-law Glen Ross; as well as nephew Gregg Johnston.
Jim started his life in Glasgow, Scotland before immigrating with his family to Canada in 1957. He attended Prince Edward, Munroe Jr. High and Miles MacDonnell schools as a child growing up in East Kildonan, and then embarked on a career with MTS for 40 years before retiring.
Jim was well liked by so many friends for his giving nature, sense of humour, and willingness to help anyone who asked. He loved to tell jokes and stories to liven up a get together while sharing a few "beverages".

Jim was a wonderful Dad, brother and uncle.
Rest in peace, Jim!

As per Jim's wishes, there will be no funeral service and immediate cremation has taken place. The family kindly requests that friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by visiting his tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com. A photo-biography, as well as memories and stories published by those who knew him, are available there.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I first knew Jim when his family came to Canada, I used to get a great kick out of him and his siblings as they talked. It was like they were bilingual. If they were conversing with the clan, the Scottish accent was used, when he talked to we Canadians, it was perfect English, no Glaswegian brogue. To his uncle Robert and I, he was always the freckled faced red head. - Posted by: Bev Hooper (Aunt ) on: Oct 17, 2021

  • Jim was exactly as described above - very helpful, always happy and a good guy all around. I worked at GW Life doing Data installs or repairs. Jim ran the GWL ship; he bent over backwards to assist the techs with their work orders in his building. I always enjoyed working with him, as did others. Thanks to Jim and God Bless him. - Posted by: Tom Price (MTS Tech friend) on: Oct 04, 2021
