PAUL DOUGLAS HAZELTON REYKDAL
(aka PAPA PAUL)
April 16, 1943 - September 26, 2021

Paul peacefully passed away in his sleep, at home, on Sunday, September 26, 2021. He was 78.
He leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Barb Schott; their children, Tod (Caroline) Reykdal, Chris Reykdal, Christine Schott and Jeff (Jodi) Schott; as well as his precious grandchildren, Jade and Dylan Reykdal, Paige and Sarah Schott, and Amber, Eddie, Aspen, and Ryder Schott.
Paul was born in Winnipeg to Kathryn and Paul "Valdi" Reykdal. He was predeceased by his parents; stepmother Jean; sister Janet; and brother David (who he shared a close bond with).
Paul had a successful career in media sales. He developed many long-term relationships with his colleagues and clients at CFRW/Q94 radio, and CKND television. In his retirement years at the beach, he loved working and playing golf at Grand Pines Golf Course.
Paul enjoyed many sports including curling, skiing, baseball, and golf. (Hole in one at Breezy Bend). He also loved to read, and spent many hours with his crossword puzzles.
Over their 43 years together Paul and Barb enjoyed hosting many family and friend get-togethers, the great trips to Mexico, and those golfing/shopping getaways.
Paul had an easy-going personality and a great smile that will be missed by all.
A private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba in his memory.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Barb and family, I am very sorry to hear about Paul’s passing. Although we lost touch these past years, I think of you both with fond memories when thinking about my early years at CKND! Paul was originally my sales rep when I worked at the Lottery’s and then became a Client and friend of mine when I started in sales at the CKND. I am happy to hear he was still on the golf course because that was one of his favourite places. Treasure the memories. Hugs to you all. - Posted by: Karen Godfrey (Media friend) on: Oct 16, 2021

  • My deepest condolences to Barb and the Reykdal family. I had the pleasure of working with Paul for couple of years at Pattison... I have nothing but fond memories of him teaching me the ropes and some good laughs! RIP Paul. - Posted by: Cam Moskal (Past Work Colleague) on: Oct 02, 2021

  • I am very saddened by Paul’s passing. I worked with Paul at Grand Pines Golf Course and he was one of our regular golf foursome every men’s night. Paul, Chris, Don, Wally and I played golf every week. We knew Paul was struggling with his health but he always claimed he was feeling okay. Never a complaint, he got up and hit the ball straight down the fairway. He always had a smile for everyone he met. He especially lit up his smile when his granddaughter Paige showed up on the beverage cart to see if we required a drink. During the winter months he would give me a call to see how I was doing. We would talk about the coming season and provide an update on our families. I will always have great and fond memories of Paul. Rest In Peace Paul until we meet again. 🏌️⛳️ - Posted by: Bob MacCallum (Friend ) on: Oct 02, 2021
