I remember Joan very much and fondly from our days in the CP Rail accounting office up on the third floor of the old train station on Higgins. I was 19 when I started in 1979 as a mail boy and Joan was looking after running trades tickets for engineers and conductors. She was always supportive and pleasant to talk and work for/with as I moved from position to position during my stay there until I transferred to Vancouver in 1987. Great times and many laughs were shared with her and our other co-workers, Carolyn, Jean, Lorraine, Gus, Richard, Fred, Don, Tom, Ed and Keith to name a few from various departments and jog some memories. Rest in peace, Joan. - Posted by: Tony Palmisani (fellow CP Rail co-worker) on: Oct 22, 2021

I learned of Joan's passing today. I was blessed to be a co-worker with her at CP RAIL for approximately 10 years when we worked in the Customer Service Center located on the 9th floor of the AIR CANADA building at 355 Portage Ave. Joan was an inspiration to work with. Joan was a member of the CPR grain billing department and dealt with the Canadian Grain Commission on a daily basis and had made many friends at the CGC over the years. I was fortunate to have met Ken when they both attended CPR Christmas parties as well as New Years Celebrations. I was very fortunate to have her as a friend and she will never be forgotten. - Posted by: GARY GALAWAN (Co-Worker) on: Oct 22, 2021

Joan touched so many lives for the good. We are grateful we had the chance to know her. Mike had a standing date to pickup the mail each morning. We always knew it was her when she knocked on our door. For such a small person she had a powerful knock. Joan will be missed by all. Connie & Mike (Enclave friends) - Posted by: Connie & Mike. Ken and Family, I am so sorry to hear of Joan's passing. Every time she popped into our office or I ran into you both in the community, Joan's gentle smile and manner belied her incredible, fierce spirit. The love you had for each other was so apparent, even during the briefest of our interactions. May all the warm memories you created over the years provide you with comfort and strength now. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. Hugs, Donna - Posted by: Donna Greening (Parkinson Canada staff member) on: Oct 12, 2021

Hi Ken: I was so very sorry to see that Joan passed away. Please accept my sincerest condolences for your loss. Although we haven't seen each other for many years, I still remember working with you at GWL and what a really nice guy you are. I met Joan many times at different functions and always thought what a wonderful person she was. Take care of yourself. Very best wishes, Joyce - Posted by: Joyce Seabrook (Harborne) (Friend & Ex-Co-Worker) on: Oct 09, 2021

So Sorry for your loss Ken and Linda. Joan was an exceptional woman who never gave up. A real trooper in our eyes for sure. Always a big smile on her face and always stopped and took the time to talk to us. Always amazed on how she could remember names after meeting us once. She was the first one who greeted us here at The Enclave with her Big smile of course. We will certainly miss Joan here but she will always be in our hearts. - Posted by: Yvonne & Iavn McCleery (neighbors) on: Oct 09, 2021

Joan was an amazing woman and an inspiration to so many. She championed the fight for Parkinson research and was a role model for friends and family. We were so hopeful for her recovery from her fall and were sad to hear from Pat about her passing. We'll miss her visits with us, here at the Enclave! Our condolences to you, Ken and her sister Linda. Orysia and John - Posted by: orysia and john jackson (neighbours) on: Oct 09, 2021
