WILLIAM BELA ZEKANY
He was predeceased by his wife Helen and daughter Victoria Zekany.
William is survived by his daughter Monica; granddaughter Rae and grandson Samuel Zekany-Hyer (Barrie, Ontario.)
William was born and raised in Hungary, where he became a lathe machinist. He met his wife Helen in Budapest and then they came to Canada in the 1950s, where together they raised their children in Winnipeg. William worked a few different jobs to help with learning English and he loved to tell stories about his time as a candy maker, before becoming a lathe machinist in the Wheel Shop at CN, until retirement. He absolutely loved going to his cabin at Balaton Beach as often as he could, he enjoyed playing cards at the Hungarian Canadian Cultural Society, loved reminiscing about family, friends and his various jobs.
An interment was held October 22, 2021 at Brookside Cemetery.
If friends so desire, donations in William's name can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba (heartandstroke.ca). Flowers gratefully declined.

Dear Monica, I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. He was so friendly and always had a good joke to tell. I will remember the kitchen full of peppers from his backyard garden. A truly good neighbor, who will be missed. Kelly Rempel (Batenchuk). - Posted by: Kelly Rempel (Batenchuk) (Neighbor ) on: Nov 07, 2021
