PASTOR VELETA ADINA FARQUHARSON
She was predeceased by her husband Bishop Mervin Farquharson, founder of the New Anointing Christian Fellowship of Winnipeg Inc. (NACF). She has left to mourn her siblings: brother George Dean, her sister Maisie Lewars, nieces and nephews, the church family (NACF), other family and friends.
In Jamaica, Pastor Veleta Farquharson begun her journey to become a trained professional when she passed her first, second and third year examinations. Her first teaching assignment was at the James Hill School in James Hill, Clarendon. Later she moved to Vere, still in the parish of Clarendon, where she obtained employment at the Post Office.
Knowledge was always important to Pastor Farquharson, and in her quest to hone her skills and remain on the cutting edge of her career as a nurse, in 1955, she immigrated to England. There she enrolled in the noble institution, East Birmingham Hospital, School of Nursing, that would equip her to serve more effectively and efficiently in her career of choice.
While in England she met and married her late husband Bishop Mervin Farquharson. They later immigrated to Canada where she enrolled in the University of Winnipeg and pursued a course of study in Geriatrics. Subsequently, she offered her professional services to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, where she served faithfully for fifteen (15) years. Her outstanding service could not be overlooked and so she was promoted to the position of Head Nurse. Pastor Farquharson was later on employed to the Sharon Nursing Home where she served for seven (7) years, but the ministry was calling, like Jeremiah she had fire shut up in her bones. So, after many years of dedicated service to the physical well-being of man, she decided to give herself wholeheartedly, to seeing to man's spiritual well-being. She entered full time Ministry. She was well equipped for the task ahead, having attained her Bachelor of Divinity from the Menno Simons College in collaboration with the University of Winnipeg. She served God and His people with excellence and dedication.
The family wishes to thank:
The Emergency Response Team, special thanks to team lead Cindy, all of whom responded to the call and transported her to the hospital during her time of illness;
The staff of Health Sciences Centre, Unit 6GH;
The staff of Misericordia Health Centre;
Cropo Funeral Chapel;
All the caregivers, who offered 24-hour loving care to Pastor Farquharson;
All the pastors and members of NACF, especially the late Daniel Odidison.
Public viewing will take place at New Anointing Christian Fellowship of Winnipeg, 1425 Manitoba Avenue, Winnipeg, Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. A celebration of Pastor Farquharson's life will follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Farquharson Foundation would be appreciated. Visit the church's website at: https://www.nacfwinnipeg.ca to donate or to live stream the funeral.

It is with great sadness to learn of the passing of Sis Ferguson. So much time has passed since our families have seen each other. Nontheless, we lean on the promises of God that we will meet again in Glory! Both Sis and Pastor Ferguson have been true angels on earth and a blessing to the Dennie family. We are honoured to have known them both. Lydia Dennie request the song IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL to be raised at her funeral if possible. We will meet again in glory my sister! Take your rest! - Posted by: Lydia Dennie and Valencia Dennie (Friends and past church family members) on: Nov 05, 2021
